Shared Services: Payroll- (Full-Time, Day Shift) -

Job Summary: The Manager-Payroll assists with managing the multi-institutional payroll function. Primary job duties are operations of Payroll Department, supervision of payroll staff, documentation of payroll procedures, communication to departments and employees, to ensure internal audit controls, to ensure balancing of weekly payroll, processing of daily and pay period check runs. Recommends process changes and work with staff to ensure payroll processes are continually evaluated for best practice. Serves as a mentor and trainer to the payroll staff. Maintains currency regarding all new tax regulations and requirements affecting payroll and its administration. Performs the other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree required or eight years experience accepted in lieu of advanced Degree required. Minimum five years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Payroll or related area required. Minimum three years of supervisory and/or managerial experience required.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge in wage labor hour laws, P/R tax laws, and accounting principles required. Familiar with employment and applicable labor laws in addition to state and federal wage and hour labor laws. Extensive knowledge in payroll processing, automated time and attendance systems, PeopleSoft, and API required. Able to write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, calculator, printer, and software programs necessary to the position. Software knowledge should include Lotus or Excel and Windows. Able to relate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction. Ability to meet deadlines and other pressures, work well with others and communicate well. Able to think critically; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Be able to pursue payroll problems to an accurate solution in an efficient manner. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Licensures and Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) required.
