Job Summary:

This position functions as the subject matter expert for all assembly work and it is required to demonstrate proficiency in key tasks and knowledge throughout power generation assembly. 

The Senior Assembly Tech, in addition to the above, will have the ability to build existing and first of kind builds due to their experience and technical expertise, review designs and identify possible wiring/ mechanical discrepancies working with engineering to come to the correct solution. They will also assist in the training of other techs and lead small teams to achieve objectives.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency are preferred. A combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
  • 1 year of manufacturing, field service or construction in the energy sector or similar industry preferred.
  • Must be able to read measuring devices to the 1/16th of an inch.
  • Must be proficient using basic hand tools.
  • Must have troubleshooting skills. 
  • Electrical experience is highly preferred.
  • Must understand torque values and how they correspond to components. 
  • Electrical wire and cable routing skills and the understanding of standard wiring workmanship as it pertains to quality. 
  • Ability to read/execute electrical schematics and/or drawings, and engineering sketches. 
  • Ability to wire across a wide range of equipment including but not limited to: Power Equipment Center (PEC), Tie Containers, Power Generation 
  • Ability to work cross functionally with engineering, planning and other key departments. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The main function of this role is the assembly of PowerGen from the setting of mechanical components to the final wiring of the electrical components. The technician will reference engineering documents to guide them in the building of the mechanical and the wiring of the controls and house power. 
  • Assemble complex electrical and mechanical sub-assemblies according to drawings, bills of material, schematics, and/or standard procedures.
  • Reference engineering documents and schematics to guide them in the assembling of the mechanical parts and the wiring of the controls and house power.
  • Read/ understand electrical drawing of both house power and communication wiring, properly landing/ labeling wiring in both TCC/ECC and house power panel.
  • Mount Genset on its skid using correct hardware and meeting torque requirements.
  • Mount all stands to skid (ECC, GBC, SCR, disconnect) and setting said components in place.
  • Connect exhaust parts and install them using correct hardware, gaskets and meeting all torque requirements.
  • Make load cables using correct gauge cable, lug, and proper crimp.
  • Fabricate CAN harnesses, fuel line, and block heater hoses.
  • Install all phases of load cables, bend install conduit and assemble def pumps, solenoids, and complex def systems.
  • Proficiency using a crimping tool, stripping tool; and multimeter as well as hand tools such as wrenches, ratchets, torque wrenches).
  • Collaborate and coordinate daily tasks with others to align priorities for smooth assembly operations.
  • Troubleshooting skills are crucial, may be required to drill and tap holes, crimps, screws, bolts, rivets, mount control units, and to provide openings for elements, wiring, and instruments using hand and power tools, machines, and equipment to ensure proper fitment and operation.
  • Assist with the integration, on-the-job training, and mentoring of new associates.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to reduce cost and improve quality on product assembly. 
  • Determine if own work is complete and correct as specified by instructions, drawings and specifications.
  • Work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Work cooperatively with all levels of employees.
  • Read and understand interconnect drawings across multiple products. 
  • Additional responsibilities and objectives will be added according to the needs of the business. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • This position will require standing, stooping, bending, and limited lifting of up to 50lbs. 
  • General manufacturing environment which may include non-conditioned and conditioned workspace.
