The CMHC Director (On-ground Modality) provides leadership in the MA in Counseling Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) On-ground modality, overseeing overall operations and CMHC On-ground curriculum delivery. This is a 12-month position with the requirement of regular on-campus presence. Responsibilities see below under the section, Essential Duties and Responsibilities.

The CMHC Director (On-ground Modality) provides leadership to the university while leveraging industry knowledge and best practices. In addition, this position promotes the mission and vision of Adler University as well as the Department of Counseling and Integrated Programs.

Education/Experience:

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program or doctoral degree in a related field and employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic administration (e.g., program or clinical coordination, gatekeeping) and faculty roles (e.g., teaching, advising, supervision) in a CACREP-accredited counseling program.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability in the development of CACREP self-study and maintaining accreditation.
  • Eligible for Counselor Licensure in Illinois.
  • Demonstrated professional service engagement and/or counselor education scholarship.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Engaged in best practices in teaching for a diverse student body.
  • Experienced in program evaluation and use of data to drive program improvements.
  • Able to leverage influence to drive change and influence stakeholders in optimizing the student experience and implementing department and university initiatives.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and visioning acumen
  • Ability to proactively identify challenges and barriers to stated objective and employ assistance in addressing these

Supervision (if applicable): 

  • Core and adjunct faculty assigned to teach in the CMHC On-ground modality
  • CMHC On-ground Modality training director

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee curriculum and program quality assurance, instructional delivery, and student experience.
  • Supervise and assign modality core and adjunct faculty.
  • Manage budgets and program expenses.
  • Maintain CACREP accreditation and monitor the program consistent with standards set by the accreditation bodies (i.e., HLC and CACREP) and effective record keeping and reporting.
  • Oversee CMHC On-ground student advisement, mentoring, retention, and remediation efforts.
  • Collaborate with university department for admissions efforts, registration process, and support of students,
  • Participate and support university, departmental and program events and services.
  • Regular Faculty Responsibilities include teaching on-ground classes and clinical training seminars.
  • Other duties as assigned
