Senior Compensation Analyst

USC's Human Resources Compensation department is seeking an experienced Senior Compensation Analyst to join their team. The Sr. Compensation Analyst will be responsible for assisting management in the administration and implementation of staff compensation program(s) and initiatives.

Specific Job Accountabilities include:

  • Provides consultative guidance to HR Partners and management on a wide range of compensation matters including selection of appropriate job descriptions, new hire offers, compensation strategy, utilization of overloads, reclassifications and internal promotions, internal/external benchmarking data, market adjustments, bonuses, job postings, compliance with legal regulations and university policies and practices.
  • Ensures wage/salary compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and university compensation policies and practices.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate pay ranges for new jobs
  • Conduct peer reviews of the work of junior team members as required
  • Assesses internal pay and recommends changes/approve requests for changes.
  • Participates in planning for implementations and upgrades of compensation technologies.
  • Provides support for rollout of the university’s compensation initiatives and programs.
  • Analyze trends in compensation and present compensation data and strategic insights to help inform, influence, support, and execute business decisions

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or Human Resources, or related disciplines
  • 4 years’ experience with all levels of employees
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to set priorities and work efficiently with a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Be detail oriented and sensitive with confidential data
  • Experience providing compensation guidance and direction
  • Strong knowledge of compensation practices, principles, methodologies, theories, and wage and hour regulations
  • Ability to identify and solve problems creatively
  • Ability to express compensation analysis findings verbally and in writing for presentation to senior HR leaders
  • Skill in analyzing and evaluating job content and writing accurate job descriptions
  • Skill in establishing/interpreting pay ranges for a wide array of jobs
  • Demonstrated excellent analytical, customer service, oral and written communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with a variety of partners and stakeholders
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)

The annual base salary range for this position is $106,324.63 - $108,020.40. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
