We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our IP One Data team. This is an amazing opportunity to help shape, grow and support our expanding APIs and ETL/ELT frameworks within our fully cloud native environment, leveraging the latest in serverless technologies. This role reports to the Manager of Data Engineering. 

We have a well-rounded global team skilled in data engineering, data science, and architecture; we would love to speak with you if you have skills in python and ETL/ELT or microservice development. 

About You - Experience, education and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience working in Unix/Linux environments
  • 2+ years of experience using Docker and Kubernetes
  • 2+ years of experience with AWS cloud services (EKS, EC2, S3, SQS, RDS, Lambda)
  • 3+ years of experience programming using Python, PHP for data development
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL databases (eg Oracle, MySQL)
  • Experience working with global product and development teams

It would be great if you also had:

  • 2+ years working on an Agile development team
  • 2+ years leading projects driving them to completion
  • 2+ years of experience with data pipelines / ETL
  • 2+ years of experience with SqlAlchemy, Pytest, Requests, Bash scripting
  • Experience with Sphinx/Manticore indexes

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Write and maintain python code to develop ETL processes to process large amounts of data
  • Create innovative solutions to collect, clean, validate, aggregate and index IP data
  • Develop and implement technical designs and data structures
  • Drive code review, test, and deployment processes
  • Work and coordinate development activities with teams in various locations

Products you will be developing / supporting

  • New ETL services, maintaining existing ETL services that provide data for our Patent Intelligence products
  • New API services, maintenance of existing API services for internal and external clients
  • New microservices, updating and supporting existing microservices

About the Team 

We are a geo-diverse team of ten data software engineers that work together with our product team and integration partners to design and develop and support our robust and growing data-driven service portfolio. 

Hours of Work

This is a full-time, permanent contract (40 hours per week with flexibility)

Hybrid model (2-3 per week working from our Barcelona Office)
