Job Description Summary:

Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.

The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.

Job Description:

The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine and the Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapeutics at the University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a Physician Scientist or Scientist for the role of Director of Cellular Therapeutic Laboratory.

We are experiencing rapid growth year over year in clinical trial protocol, tests, and procedures. Our program currently preforms 300 hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation on an annual basis, and over a hundred of CAR-T treatments per year, many were performed based on clinical trials. Our National Cancer Institute (NCI)-comprehensive designated cancer center is the region’s only certified CAR-T facility offering 6 FDA approved-CAR-T therapies that provide rich opportunities for clinical and translational research, both within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Division for Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapeutics within the Medical Center.

This is a full-time faculty appointment at Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank on either a tenure track or non-tenure clinical/scholar track, depending on qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • The candidate should have a MD or PhD. or MD/PhD degree and must have an extensive track record of accomplishments in Cellular Therapeutics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will have strong interest or have extensively published in the field of Cellular Therapies or have an active research program, optimally with external funding.
