Your business:

The Financial Services division, led by the Group CFO, partners with all areas of the Commonwealth Bank Group to provide financial control functions and specialist advice on financial management and strategy. This advice covers finance, audit, treasury, investor relations, security and property.

Your team:

Your team forms part of the Center of Excellence Team, within the wider Technology Finance Team of approximately 90 people and provides business partnering and financial management services to Technology and Business Unit CIOs.

Your impact & contribution:

This role is responsible for assisting the Senior Manager to provide financial support to Technology Finance and the Technology business, including:

  • Monthly management reporting, variance analysis and commentary for Technology business area/s
  • Project financial support
  • Maintenance of rigorous financial control, including balance sheet reconciliations
  • Technology Business stakeholder management
  • Driver based annual budget and quarterly forecasts
  • Involvement in ad-hoc financial analysis and broader insights to drive tangible value
  • Identification and implementation of ongoing process improvements.

Your reporting lines:

You will have a reporting line to the Senior Manager, Finance Centre of Excellence (based locally in Bangalore), working closely with the Senior Manager, Business Partnering (based in Sydney).

Your responsibilities:

  • Ability to work independently but also be a team player
  • a) Be able to build and maintain robust working relationships across multiple stakeholder groups, including Technology, Technology Finance and Group Finance
  • b) Balance the needs of each stakeholder group using judgment and effective communication
  • Support Technology stakeholders and Finance by providing strong financial management services and decision support
  • a) Creation and delivery (in both verbal and written form) of crisp, concise and impactful material to assist in driving business outcomes and enhanced cost transparency
  • b) Preparation and presentation of monthly financial results and analysis for both BAU and investment spend to Technology, Business Unit and Finance General Managers
  • c) Assume responsibility for accuracy of contents and the timeliness of submissions to relevant parties
  • Strong base knowledge and experience of fundamental finance principles, processes and financial control, including:
  • a) Journal review
  • b) General ledger and P&L analysis and review
  • c) Balance sheet analysis, reconciliation and substantiation
  • d) Process improvement, standardization and simplification
  • Demonstration of intellectual curiosity to enhance understanding of the business being supported including cost base and underlying cost drivers
  • Preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including driver based plans in support of insightful analytics and business performance management
  • Support and involvement of Technology Finance continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identification and escalation of issues to ensure appropriate risk management and financial control practices are in place
  • Ability to constructively challenge team and stakeholders as and when required
  • Effective prioritisation skills used in conjunction with line manager prioritization
  • Ability to attract, retain and develop talent with support from Senior Manager and Executive Manager levels.

Your skills & experience:

  • Strong accounting and financial skills;
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills;
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication skills and demonstrated experience of business partnering.
  • Knowledge of the financial services and / or technology industry, including technology developments that are impacting Financial Services.
  • CA/CPA/CFA qualified with 7+ years of post qualification experience;
  • Accounting/finance management related degree; and Commercial finance experience, ideally within a large corporate in Financial Services and/or Technology.
