PCL is looking for a Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist in Edmonton. We are looking for an experienced writer and storyteller; someone who can utilize their creative writing abilities to develop marketing materials that stand out from the competition. We require a team player who knows how to balance information and inspiration in ways that truly connect with our audiences. 

Reporting to the Director Marketing, Canadian Buildings, this role will work closely with the corporate marketing and communications team to develop compelling copy to support the delivery of integrated marketing and communications (IMC) plans for our Canadian Buildings sector. 

Although this role is heavily centered on content creation, it will also include other communications and marketing activities. It requires a solid foundational knowledge of communications and marketing principles, exceptional writing skills, and someone that can execute on various tasks, as required.

You can write for all audiences, whether it’s a compelling blog post, white paper or technical product copy, your ability to communicate clearly and professionally is exceptional. As a creative storyteller, you can skillfully tackle both thought leadership and technical-related topics.

Here's how a Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist for our Edmonton NAHQ office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Assists the marketing team with development, execution and tracking of integrated marketing communications plans. 
  • With the support from the marketing team, you will assist in developing content strategies, coordinating content production, managing publishing schedules and executing content for our website, email marketing, blogs, marketing collateral, social media channels and more.
  • Ensures content across all channels is on strategy, on brand, grammatically correct and follows copywriting best practices.
  • Creates content for a variety of platforms including email, blogs, video, websites, award submissions, PCL publications and social media. We’re looking for someone who is adept at writing compelling content to build unique and impactful communications that engage our audiences.
  • Manages Executive social media accounts, helping to develop compelling social media content for them to share.
  • Supports the PCL brand, ensuring that all published pieces match the brand voice, tone and style guide requirements. Edit copy for clarity, voice and specificity.
  • Manages content calendars and ensuring that the content remains consistent across all platforms, and coordinate with the marketing and design team to ensure the timely delivery of assignments.
  • Builds relationships with all levels of internal clients. Work directly with these key internal clients to ensure message consistency and support their initiatives with various communication/content tactics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in public relations, corporate communications, marketing, journalism or related field.
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in a corporate or agency setting.
  • Expert in AP writing style and superb verbal, writing, editing and proofreading skills (a portfolio of samples to share will be requested at the interview stage and a simple writing test will be administered as required).
  • Experience in the architecture, engineering and construction industry is considered an asset. 
  • Experience creating engaging content. 
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at one time in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and team-focused with the ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
  • Experience with video creation and graphic content would be considered an asset.
