Manufacturing Engineer

Teledyne Advanced Pollution Instrumentation (TAPI), a business unit within the Environmental and Electronic Measurement Instruments group within Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY), continues to be the global leader in the manufacturing of advanced instrumentation for monitoring of atmospheric pollution. We design, manufacture and market precision gas analyzers and air quality monitoring products both domestically and internationally.

JOB SUMMARY

This position's responsibilities include coordinating new product development with design engineers, direct production support, generating manufacturing documentation and processes (BOM management, assembly and test methods, tools, procedures & drawings), document/engineering change systems, cost reduction, and productivity improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have very well-developed project management skills, capable of multi-tasking and keeping on track with multiple projects. Strong interpersonal skills are required for interfacing with internal customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Generating manufacturing documentation and processes (BOM management, assembly and test methods, tools, procedures & drawings
  • Working with Production personnel to work through production issues & implementing production changes.
  • Working with design engineering in the final development of new products.
  • Supporting and improving the manufacture and performance of existing products.
  • Managing the initial manufacturing pilot builds of new products and managing cost reduction and productivity improvement projects.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required for inter-departmental and team interaction; experience with direct interaction with manufacturing/production personnel.
  • Highly developed organization and time management skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and other office productivity software.
  • Experience in technical assembly and/or test procedure development, editing, or writing.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks drafting software.
  • Multidisciplinary product experience (i.e., not purely electronic, or purely mechanical, etc.).
  • Knowledge of product structure/bills of materials.
  • Familiarity with MRP and an ERP system.
  • Familiarity with ECO/ECN/DCN change systems.

HIGHLY PREFERRED:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing.
  • Experience with ISO 9000 documentation requirements
  • Experience in the instrumentation or environmental industries.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position will involve repetitive work utilizing a computer, keyboard, and mouse 90% of the time.
  • The position will require frequent sitting, reaching, and focus on computer monitor.
  • The position will require occasional standing, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, turning, and twisting.
  • May be required to lift up to but no more than 35 lbs. unassisted.

The pay range for this job is determined by various factors, including but not necessarily limited to location, responsibilities of the job, and alignment with market data. When determining a salary for this role, the following factors may be taken into consideration-affordability, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The estimate display represents the salary range for this position and is just one component of Teledyne’s’ total compensation package for employees. It is not necessarily reflective of actual compensation that may be earned, nor a promise of any specific pay for any specific employee.

Salary Range:

$71,940.00-$96,140.000
