WSP is currently seeking a Technologist to join our Municipal Engineering department, located at our Ottawa office. Reporting to the Manager this position will be responsible for CADD Civil 3D along side periodic construction site inspections on municipal projects.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Contribute in engineering design assignments in a team environment;
  • Participate in the development of concept, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings, designs and plans, including plan & profiles, sections and details, for design, tender, construction and as-constructed drawing sets, and contract documents;
  • Assisting with grading/servicing design
  • Able to design pipe using Civil 3D pipe network features, road designs using corridors, and grading design using 3D surface, grading creation tools and feature lines
  • Work collaboratively with Engineers to assist in design, drafting and preparation of contract documents in connection with land development, municipal or transportation projects;
  • Perform construction inspections on projects in Ottawa and surrounding areas;
  • Resolving construction issues with the assistance of the site project manager and field supervisors;
  • Quantity measurements, daily reporting, and participation in construction meetings;
  • Completion of construction as-built for record keeping/approval purposes;
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Civil Engineering Technology graduate;
  • 3+ years of experience with Civil 3D in a variety of projects - (road reconstructions and site plan approvals would be an asset);
  • Proven experience in contract administration and site inspection on road construction. 
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications;
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities;
  • Comfortable in working independently in both an office and field environment; and
  • Must have access to a vehicle and proof of valid driver’s license in the province of Ontario. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel applications and Autodesk Civil 3D;
  • Ability to take initiative and attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
