General Summary

Responsible for the purchasing function of the organization; develops and implements purchasing strategies and policies that help the organization obtain necessary products and services while minimizing costs.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishes a sourcing strategy that ensures a consistent supply of raw materials, packaging and labels. 
  • Develops criteria to be used during vendor evaluation and selection. 
  • Identifies trends in organizational purchasing and identifies opportunities for cost reduction through purchase consolidation. 
  • Sets goals and identifies metrics measuring performance of purchasing processes. 
  • Negotiates complex or high-value vendor contracts. 
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for coaching, development and managing employment actions. 
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to align departmental strategy or direction with the overall goals of the organization. 
  • Primarily responsible for strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department or function in alignment with organizational objectives. 
  • Responsible for shaping business strategy and aligning goals to achieve the company’s objectives.
  • Provide executive oversight of the purchasing departments project initiatives, monitoring progress against strategic objectives.
  • Establishes departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization's long-term success. 

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is required.
  • 15+ years progressive plant operations experience with at least 5 years in purchasing
  • Strong leadership skills including the development and mentoring of others and ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing 
  • Must have knowledge of MRP applications. 
  • Basic PC skills are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Working Conditions

1. Office environment.

2. Travel up to 10% of the time.

This position is eligible for a bonus based on company goals/performance.
