JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient environment in which to work and learn. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat, clean and safe at all times. Performs essential building care such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, dewaxing and waxing floors; cleaning blinds, window glass, light fixtures, walls, carpet, restrooms and other spaces within a school facility. Sweeps classrooms and empties waste containers daily. Cleans corridors after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it. Scrubs and disinfects restrooms floors daily. Cleans all sanitary fixtures daily. Checks equipment and facility daily and reports any damage immediately to the principal. Works on the school premises during scheduled hours and remains on the school premises during periods when the principal has authorized use of the building for special purposes. Moves furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the lead custodian or principal. Complies with local laws, ordinances, and regulations for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste. Complies with any reasonable oral or written directive given by the lead custodian, principal, or other administrator. Excellent attendance and punctuality required. Other duties as assigned by Lead and/or administrators.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING:

Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Ability to establish and maintain efficient working relations with other employees and school system personnel; ability to perform the physical requirements of the custodial and light maintenance duties including lifting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing a ladder; ability to learn repetitive tasks and perform them under supervision; working knowledge of methods and materials essential to good housekeeping and sanitation practices.
