The Information Technology department at Artisan Partners is responsible for providing technology solutions that are reliable, adaptable, integrated, scalable and maintainable. The key clients of the Information Technology group span the entire investment process, from portfolio management to operations.
The Data Science Developer role for the Data Services team is primarily responsible for the architecture, development and support of systems related to data science and machine learning. This individual may at times be responsible for the design, coding, testing, deployment and documentation of various data science tools, models and processes. Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication skills are critical to successful performance in this role.

Responsibilities
The candidate can expect to:
- Act as a data science expert, collaborating with data scientists and other stakeholders to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet those needs
- Evaluate, select, implement, administer, and support an enterprise data science toolkit, ensuring that systems are reliable, scalable, and maintainable
- Build consensus around standards and best practices while ensuring alignment with enterprise principles
- Use statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze data and develop predictive models
- Communicate insights and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Develop and deploy processes to automate data ingestion and preparation, model training and predictions, and data delivery
- Monitor the performance of machine learning models and make improvements as needed
- Research and pilot tools to enhance Artisan’s ability to deliver data science solutions
- Provide ongoing support and assistance with existing platforms and projects
- Complete special assignments as needed
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer role within the financial industry required
- Proven track record of supporting high quality data science processes or applications
- Keen interest in gaining business knowledge and driven to solve challenges through technology
- Highly developed problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage several projects at once
- Ability to clearly present technical concepts to a non-technical business audience
- Ability to interact effectively with peers in a fast-paced environment and under aggressive deadlines
- Ability to perform various data sourcing, transformation, and storage tasks
- Knowledge of statistical based data analysis and developing machine learning models
- Extensive Python and SQL experience
- Experience with deploying and monitoring machine learning models
- Experience with enterprise data science tools is strongly preferred (Amazon SageMaker, Snowflake’s Snowpark, HuggingFace)
