Job Role Summary

The public relations/communications assistant will work with the division in assisting in the day to day assignments of special event planning, website postings, writing, editing, media relations, internal and external communication, corporate events, crisis communications and marketing techniques. To enhance our public relations department to the next level of communicating to employees and the community. 

Associated Job Duties

  • Planning, implementation and follow up for all corporate staff events
  • Coordinate event logistics, publicity including working with public relations team in promoting the event
  • Broaden the social networking to benefit the organization
  • Main Photographer for the corporation
  • United Way Campaign coordinator for the corporation
  • Coordinate the editorial board monthly meetings
  • Coordinate the Employee of the Month photo and distribution of photos
  • Premium/ retirement trophy pickup
  • Assisting in writing articles for the employee newsletter
  • Represent PR department in meetings with other departments
  • Attend production staff meetings weekly
  • Set up and tear down of external affairs events
  • Work with MCPHD department heads and HHC department heads in helping to publicize their events 
  • Crisis communications: when called upon/handle media calls, writing press releases, dealing with media
  • Health fairs and special community meetings, represent PR and the corporation
  • Assist media coordinator with press conferences and media events
  • Create PowerPoint presentations and social media posts
  • Attend editorial board meetings
  • Assist departments with the setup of their AV equipment

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a 4-year college or university. Communication, marketing, public relations, journalism, special event planning, social media and digital healthcare crisis communications.
  • Prefer 5 years of experience in a paid special event, public relations, marketing position. 
  • Evidence of successful events, sponsorship, marketing, public relations, website content management, social media marketing, writing, editing, team building, organization, project orientation.
  • Experience with working with committees and team concepts and volunteers
  • Excellent communications skills that includes writing, editing, presentations, internal and external.
  • Photography and video a must
  • Experience in the health field a plus

  • Must demonstrate strong administrative and analytical abilities
  • Must be able to lead and motivate employees in working as a team
  • Must be decisive and be able to work under demanding the ability to initiate, multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure and meet changing requirements in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must demonstrate advanced time management and problem solving skills to include an ability to identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities that come up during the planning or event and decide on the best course of action
  • Must clearly understand people management experience
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Familiar with adobe acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Photo Shop, Indesign, Social Media platforms, familiar with MAC usage and PC, IPHONE video and editing
  • Photography a must
