Job Overview

We are currently looking for a Logistics Specialist to join our team in Holland, MI.

As a Logistics Specialist you will:

Plans transportation for orders using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Transportation Management System (TMS) systems, optimization, and review processes to effectively deliver product with priority on quality, schedule, and cost. Communicates with Fulfillment Center (FC), carriers, Customer Service (CS), and customers on all transportation exceptions. Monitors preparation of export documentation to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Adheres to policies, procedures, and systems enabling Haworth to comply with Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and other special trade programs/regulations. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) analysis and classification for all Haworth B2C import and export part numbers. Performs tariff-shift and regional value content analysis for FTA certifications. 

Some of the responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Evaluate special shipping requests from Sales, CS, and customers. Determines and schedules appropriate transportation services to meet requirements and minimize cost.
  • Shows tact and diplomacy in resolving problems among Haworth, carriers, and customers concerning logistics. Recommends solutions for disputes that require escalation to management. Addresses and resolves problems promptly to ensure delivery is not delayed.
  • Conducts root cause analysis of service failures and “Voice of the Customer” (VOC) tickets. Develops and implements countermeasures and processes to prevent problems from recurring.
  • Demands high performance from carriers, holding them accountable for on-time performance and reporting accuracy. Effectively switches roles from that of supplier (to internal and external customers) to customer (to carriers). Provides feedback regarding carrier performance to provide more complete picture to Transportation Specialists.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and prepares accurate, complete export documentation by verifying and entering date in a time-sensitive manner, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of needed documentation. Documentation examples include customs invoices, booking requests, master bills of lading, shipper’s export declarations, commercial invoices, North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) certificates, and letters of credit; procedures vary by country, mode of transportation, and legal changes.
  • Performs tariff-shift and regional value content analysis, using Haworth costed bills of material and supplier FTA certification database, to produce accurate FTA reporting and reduce Haworth’s exposure to duties when trading within North America.
  • Completes FTA certifications in a timely manner to correspond with products’ export schedules, ensuring deadlines are met for on-time shipping.
  • Completes blanket and transactional FTA certifications as required to ensure compliance with FTAs.

Do you have these required qualifications?

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or similar work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in distribution/fulfillment/transportation.
  • 2 years of experience in international trade and/or trade compliance.
  • Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship

Do you have these preferred qualifications?

  • Retail and/or ecommerce experience.
  • Experience processing customs paperwork.
