Get to Know the Opportunity:

Voya is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Application Support Consultant to join our dynamic team. As an Application Support Consultant, you will be responsible for ensuring proper coordination of software application design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, and support to ensure smooth, stable, and timely implementation of work requests and issue resolution. You will work closely with our experienced development team, contributing to the overall success of our solutions. The Application Support Consultant supports the Application Maintenance IT Manager and Director and is accountable for the tactical Application Maintenance delivery for the Digital portfolio. Application Maintenance delivery includes Technical Risk Management, Incident, Problem & Change Management oversight and performance management, Process Management and Vendor Management. Guides Application Systems solutions design through the life cycle of a set of work. Partners with teams supporting Application Development and Application Maintenance such as Quality Assurance, Release Management and Shared Services in to maintain a stable portfolio and support model.

The Contributions You’ll Make:

  • Ensures proper coordination of software application design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, and support to ensure smooth, stable, and timely implementation of work requests and issue resolution.
  • Provides technical and application portfolio risk management.
  • Has accountability for the technical delivery of work for a defined portfolio.
  • Ensure delivery and planning of extensive application maintenance and currency efforts in partnership with project management.
  • Coordinates with the Application Development Project team and application maintenance team.
  • Partner with architects and shared services teams to ensure Voya standards, software development practices, and compliant designs are met.
  • Review support documentation for Operational IT governance and ensure it is up to standard.
  • Identify opportunities for new services, continuous improvement, and cost reduction and manage related change requests.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations (e.g. application maintenance, stability, innovation, development, incident, change & problem management)
  • Ensure compliance with Voya policy and SLAs.
  • Review performance results and determine when application maintenance support levels need to be changed. 
  • Seeks to achieve the highest value service from vendors and evaluates vendor performance based on vendor metrics.
  • Review and validate service level report accuracy and escalate concerns/discrepancies.

Minimum Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or a directly related field, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of software engineering and development or Operations, including 5 years in technical leadership, preferably within a Digital Application Portfolio.
  • 5+ years supporting Digital Retirement Services Digital Portfolio
  • Ability to embrace, adapt and lead through change, fosters effective partnerships, and drive effective collaboration with peers and vendor resources.
  • Expertise in new computing architectures and implementation of networked computing structures
  • Demonstrated expertise working across multiple platforms/technologies
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both technical and business terms
  • Hands on extensive experience in Salesforce platform, particularly in Service, Sales and Financial Cloud
  • Knowledge on ITSM process and tools such as ServiceNow
  • Expertise in supplier service delivery oversight, quality review
  • Experience with business analysis within a Digital Portfolio.
  • Ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, shift and adjust work effort based on critical priorities and SLA’s.

  • App and Web Servers – JBoss, Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic, IIS
  • OS – RHEL, Windows
  • Web Technologies – Java, JSP, Servlet, Java API, HTML, Java script, Maven, C#, .NET, ASP .NET Web services
  • Framework – Struts, Spring MVC, EJB, CCF
  • Middleware Platform – WebMethods, ETL, MQ Series, Business Object
  • DevOps technologies – GitHub, Jenkins, XLD, SonarCube, Artifactory
  • Security tool - Veracode
  • Monitoring tool – Dynatrace, Grafana
  • Database – Oracle, SQL server, DB2 and Sybase, SSIS
  • Other Tools – HP ALM, IBM ClearCase & ClearQuest, Clarity, Microsoft Office, ServiceNow, SharePoint

Required Skills

  • Hands on extensive experience in Salesforce technologies.
  • Able to code in Java, Java API & JavaScript.
  • Basic knowledge in SQL, Linux, Windows, Cloud, Sybase, Oracle.
  • We are looking for an Application Support Consultant with 9 to 13 years of experience in Salesforce development or operations, including five years in technical leadership.
  • Designing and developing high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems and delivering high-availability and performance.
  • Writing well designed, testable, efficient code.
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.
  • Experience in Application Management.
  • Knowledge on production support and production incident trouble shooting skills.
  • Deployment and configuration management skill also will be an added advantage.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work in occasional nights and rotational weekends as needed.
  • Expert analytical resource focusing on highly visible, complex and critical priorities.
  • Resolves problems related to systems integration, compatibility, performance, stability, etc. across multiple applications/platforms.
  • Participates in designing and maintaining systems based on application architectures that improve business processes and in alignment/support of critical business strategies.
  • Facilitates continuous process and performance improvements within application portfolios.
  • Determines organizational impact of software maintenance issues and develops overall strategy to address them.
  • Provides feasibility analysis on potential projects and ensures maintainability/supportability is protected.
  • Partners with business and technology leaders to understand and translate business objectives into technological solutions
  • Partners with product and service vendors to integrate successfully into the environment as well as partnering to solve complex vendor integration issues that may arise.
  • Maintains high level understanding/knowledge of system architecture and infrastructure portfolio that supports the business process to provide in-depth solution and problem solving.
  • Provides expert level knowledge during critical P1, P2 incidents to effectuate minimal outage time.
  • Employs heightened sense of urgency with respect to stability issues, particularly those impacting our externally facing application portfolio.
  • Ability to develop robust Disaster Recovery plans and participate/lead teams through DR testing resulting is successful outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with business partners while troubleshooting issues and identifying defect fixes/enhancements.
  • Maintain an architecture/infrastructure/application knowledge level that facilitates the ability to assess organizational/stability impacts for all Change related activity.
  • Engages in critical vulnerability and security related matters and has the knowledge and ability to influence quick resolution to mitigate organizational risk.
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced analysts/managed service partners, provides guidance on assignments to other team members

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$114,450 - $143,060 USD
