Our Team

Located at 978 Worcester Street in Wellesley, MA, the Sports Medicine team at Newton-Wellesley treats a large volume of sports-related injuries. Our specialists offer state-of-the art outpatient surgical treatment using regional anesthesia for conditions of the shoulder, knee, and ankle. We work with athletes at all levels, including high school, college, professional athletes and weekend/recreational athletes.

Hours/Schedule

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support the practice on-site Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Role Overview

Our Medical Assistants partner alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses primarily working with 1 to 2 providers as our support model. Our team of Medical Assistants work with a variety of patients within sports medicine, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

This is a unique Medical Assistant role to learn a lot in the varies orthopedics clinics that we partner with. We provide opportunities to learn post-op care, splinting and other DME fitting. We strive to help our medical assistant grow in a department where they can learn an assortment of new skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Functioning as a "flow manager"/ensuring efficient patient flow through the office
  • Assisting with direct patient care during the office visit (examination, procedures, and treatments as advised)
  • Performing clinically appropriate administrative tasks (chart prep, phone triage, in-basket messages, test results, prescription refill, coordination of care, etc.)
  • Maintaining neat, clean, and safe patient care areas
  • Providing an exceptional care experience by interacting with patients and their families in a professional, friendly manner consistent with their needs.

When hiring, we look for candidates who possess not only the relevant skills and competencies, but also positive attitudes, empathy, and genuine passion for this work. Our providers and clinical staff members love to teach and mentor, so we are seeking someone who is ready to learn different variations of this department as a medical assistant.

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program, nursing student, or Paramedic required.
  • CPR training required. 
  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant preferred
  • Epic experience preferred
