The IT Operations Engineer II position within Fortra’s Infrastructure team plays a specialist role in ensuring optimal functionality and reliability of Fortra’s infrastructure and systems.

This position involves serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within a specific domain such as network, storage, server management, virtualization, O365, Cloud, Monitoring, or Automation. You will be an internal point of contact for infrastructure challenges, providing vital support and guidance where required.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about reliability practices and help ensure the optimum health and availability of our infrastructure. Responsibilities include attending Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, responding to monitoring alerts, swiftly managing incidents, and conducting regular maintenance.

This role will be on-site at Fortra's corporate headquarters based out of Eden Prairie, Minnesota. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide on-site IT support at Fortra's Corporate Headquarters located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota
  • Provide advanced support for infrastructure-related issues, acting as an escalation point for complex technical challenges.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, providing expert-level support and rapid response to critical infrastructure issues outside of normal business hours.
  • Manage the operational aspects of network, storage, server management, virtualization, and cloud services, ensuring efficient maintenance and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain documentation processes for infrastructure technologies, focusing on continuous improvement and clarity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Security, DevOps, and CloudOps, to address and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Assist in evaluating vendor proposals, conducting cost/benefit analyses, and participating in procurement processes for IT solutions.
  • Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, monitor infrastructure health, and respond to incidents to maintain system reliability and availability.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced team members, sharing knowledge and best practices in infrastructure management and support.
  • Proactively identify and implement enhancements in the infrastructure for scalability, security, and performance improvements.
  • Participate in the development and testing of disaster recovery plans to ensure infrastructure resilience and business continuity.
  • Stay updated with the latest infrastructure technologies and trends as well as evaluate and recommend new solutions to improve the organizational IT infrastructure.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be local to Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and be willing to commute to the office at least four days a week.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working in an enterprise IT organization, in a technical support role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), network protocols, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA) may be preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to collaborate with technical and non-technical people at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
