The Customer Digital Identity (CDI) organization is enabling the company to better understand who the Walmart customer is. At the same time, we are ensuring streamlined processes, security, scalability, regulatory compliance and best in class customer experience. 

The customer is at the heart of all we do at Walmart. The Customer Digital Identity team will amplify customer centricity by deepening the company’s understanding of customers and their preferences. When we do that, we can serve them when and how they need. 

About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to lead the development and improvement of cutting-edge machine learning and deep learning models powering Walmart Customer Modeling. Digital Identity Customer Modeling team will work with a nimble startup like Walmart’s Data Ventures and build the best-in-class suite of Data Products to deliver actionable, customer-centric insights and Walmart connect focused on Adtech business and Walmart+ focused on membership business. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will design and implement scalable data science solutions working with business, product, and engineering partners and deliver outstanding business outcomes.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for end-to-end data science solutions for our data products. 
  • Has experience with traditional, as well as modern Machine Learning/Statistical techniques, including Regression, Classification, Ensemble Methods, Deep Learning
  • Works closely with data engineers, analysts, ML Engineers and application developers to help build ML and statistics driven models.
  • Have a deep interest and passion for technology. You love writing and owning codes and enjoy working with people.
  • Good at analyzing existing code, finding bugs in the existing solutions and recommending how to improve or enhance the baseline.
  • Communicate complex models and analysis in a clear and precise manner coupled with actionable conclusions and recommendations.
  • You have strong problem solving, analytic, decision-making capabilities and excellent communication with interpersonal skills.
  • You level up when you have the opportunity to teach others and empower those around you to excel.

You’ll sweep us off our feet if:

  • You have hands-on experience with Python, PySpark, SQL and the ability to write reusable and efficient code to automate machine learning pipeline and data processes.
  • You have experience with deep learning library like TensorFlow and/or PyTorch as well as experience with Spark and/or Hadoop.
  • Have strong knowledge of Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and NLP/NLU.
  • Have applied industry experiece in NLP/NLU, Forcasting and Anomaly detection solution development.
  • Built solutions that are easy to integrate into external framework or existing platforms.
  • You bring strong engineering mindset and exposure to software engineering principles, Agile methodologies.
  • Functional knowledge of Google Cloud Platform or Azure Machine Learning Platform and their ML and compute components.
  • Experience in Retail customer behavior analysis and designing algorithms on Hadoop ecosystem at scale.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Option 1 - Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in analytics related field.
  • Option 2 - Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in analytics related field. Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R, Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch)

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

  • Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)
  • Stock equity incentives
