Export Controls & Sanctions

The FTI Consulting Export Controls and Sanctions practice is a truly global practice that operates seamlessly across all jurisdictions and industries to provide timely, comprehensive and practical advice. We help our clients navigate the complexity of export controls and sanctions compliance by simplifying them into manageable, actionable, and auditable internal controls. Our consultants provide insight into the possible interpretations of new sanctions based on foreign policy and national security priorities. We help clients comply with export controls and sanctions laws by carrying out due diligence, preparing licenses and licensing strategies, designing risk models using advanced data analytics, developing practical policies and procedures, and crafting training programs that correspond to the culture and risk-profile of their business.

Responsibilities Will Include, But Will Not Be Limited To

• Research and monitor local and global trade and sanctions regulations and updates
• Strong knowledge of export control, sanctions and import/customs laws in APAC region and the U.S.
• Ability to interpret government regulations and apply business knowledge to client’s operations
• Experiences in conducting risk assessment and audit, understand compliance control point
• Experiences in conducting due diligence and screening
• Knowledge of product classification, jurisdiction analysis and license determination
• Involvement in overall case project management and administration
• Support research and drafting of project proposals and broader business development initiatives
• Prepare written analyses, summaries of our findings and reports
• Assist with drafting training materials, client’s policies and procedures
• Communicate preliminary findings to engagement stakeholders
• Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel

Qualification and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 3-7 years of relevant experiences
• Solid knowledge of Worldwide (mostly the U.S. and China) trade regulations is required; specifically, like the U.S. EAR, OFAC regulation, China export control law and regulation demonstrated work experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and project management skills
• Experience in project management, liaising with internal and external resources and reporting to senior management and clients
• Ability to reliably meet deadlines and manage multiple time sensitive matters simultaneously
• Proficiency using MS office tools, screening tools and other trade compliance software
• Self-starter, able to work independently multi-task, set priorities and execute timely to meet deadlines and strategic objectives
• Proficient in English and Chinese is required
• Ability to collaborate with multi-functional global teams and drive issues to conclusion
• Great teammate with a positive demeanor
