In this role, you will provide technical and engineering services, manage projects, and maintain relationships with clients on various stormwater and water resources projects.

We have an exciting opportunity for Mid to Senior-Level Project Manager to join our growing team in Raleigh, NC. We seek a motivated, achievement-oriented individual with experience in stormwater permitting and regulatory compliance, stormwater master planning, and green infrastructure and stormwater conveyance system design. In this role, you will provide technical and engineering services, manage projects, and maintain relationships with clients on various stormwater and water resources projects.

Specific work may include planning, field investigations, feasibility studies, design, permitting, report writing, construction inspection, and other tasks on current and future projects in Raleigh and the Mid-Atlantic Area. Participation in project pursuits, proposal development, and client engagement may also be part of this role.

  • Manage and lead water resources projects related to stormwater quality and quantity management, green infrastructure, flood control infrastructure, climate resilience, and stream restoration
  • Provide water resources/stormwater design services for stormwater conveyance system projects
  • Support stormwater and resilience master planning efforts
  • Provide MS4 and other regulatory compliance support and coordinate with associated regulatory agencies
  • Perform and oversee technical analyses including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water quality investigations, and data management
  • Coordinate and perform field site visits with clients/owners, consultants, contractors, designers, and regulatory agencies, as needed
  • Prepare environmental studies, technical memoranda, reports, presentations, and other types of electronic deliverables to document and communicate analyses and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Perform calculations, and prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Prepare spreadsheets, documents, drawings, and maps (in ArcMap/GIS or AutoCAD)
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with federal, state, and local agencies and understand requirements and areas of opportunity for our clients
  • Participate in organizations to benefit the company’s knowledge of issues and to understand client needs
  • Perform technical and quality control reviews of study, design, and planning documents prepared by others
  • Coordinate with project managers, client service managers, and other project personnel from other disciplines
  • Delegate and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers; may include supervisory responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the water resources practice across the area and company

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field required; M.S. preferred
  • Minimum eight years of experience planning, managing, and/or designing stormwater and water resources-related projects
  • Strong technical background in planning and design, water quality, and broader green and resilient infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to provide effective mentoring and development of less experienced staff
  • Ability to manage and lead projects and tasks with an interdisciplinary team required
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment
  • Must be able to successfully manage and deliver on multiple tasks with competing priorities 
  • PE license in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain a license through reciprocity within 6 months, is desired
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS is required
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to walk slowly around a construction or field site of varying size that may have areas of uneven, muddy, and/or rocky ground or be overgrown with vegetation to perform inspections and take photographs
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment at sites including hard hats, steel-toed boots (or other approved toe protection), etc.
  • Ability to remain alert and vigilant while working around construction equipment, waterways, and field sites and be able to walk swiftly for a short distance to clear an area where a potential hazard is identified.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Salary: $141,000 - $193,000
