The Chief Sustainability Office serves as a central team supporting the Board and Executive Management in setting strategic direction on sustainability across the Group, and integrating environmental and social considerations into the fabric of our business.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic about sustainability, with a focus on supporting the bank’s sustainability report and related-disclosure processes. Successful candidates will be motivated by working within a team to catalyse change in a a purpose-led business that is on the leading edge of driving the sustainability agenda in Asia.

The role is suited to someone who is looking to further their career as a sustainability professional. You will gain exposure to governance, strategy, risk management and reporting across a variety of topics, including climate change, nature, financial inclusion, and human rights, amongst others. Responsibilities

The candidate will be expected to contribute towards a variety of strategic planning projects in corporate sustainability across the CSO Team’s portfolio. In addition, the main areas of contributions will include:

  • Evolve the organisations approach to sustainability reporting and grow the capacity of internal units to implement policies and practices that support DBS’ disclosure objectives and drive performance improvement
  • Deliver projects in collaboration with internal units (e.g. production of the annual sustainability report, responding to ESG ratings or investors queries)
  • Engage internal stakeholders, including DBS’ senior management, on key disclosure related matters
  • Manage relationships with key external stakeholders including, but not limited to government / government bodies, regulators, industry groups, ESG investors, and within the wider sustainability ecosystem
  • Engage with senior management and internal units to evolve and deliver on the organisation’s sustainability strategy, reporting approaches and key objectives
  • Manage planning and production of the annual sustainability report and related public disclosures communications
  • Develop subject matter expertise to stay updated on sustainability-related trends and developments within banking industry, so as to advance the evolution and implementation of sustainability at DBS
  • Propose, lead and project manage relevant sustainability-related initiatives (e.g. policies, guidance documents, toolkits) in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Promote transfer of sustainability-related knowledge and ownership (where applicable) to business units and support functions
  • Support the maintenance of relationships with key external stakeholders, e.g. regulators, investors, standard setters, and NGOs

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience in the sustainability and/ or financial sector
  • Experienced project manager – provides a well-structured and systematic approach, and is able to anticipate, prevent and solve problems proactively, while demonstrating competent time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications – proficient in synthesising complex information in simple and clear ways that are easy to understand
  • Attention to detail – comfortable producing, editing and reviewing qualitative and quantitative information
  • Stakeholder engagement – confident proactively engaging and working with multiple stakeholders from various departments / backgrounds
  • Resourceful and adaptable in uncertainty – able to work effectively in a high paced and changeable context
  • A team player – able to lead initiatives, as well as support other team members on projects
