Position Summary

The Senior Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the people and processes associated with all aspects of plant materials flow to include maintaining control and accuracy of inventories, including transactions, procurement (Buying), planning, scheduling, warehousing, and Salt Lake City distribution to ensure that material is purchased, manufactured, moved, received and shipped on time. A key aspect of this role is to Lead and plan internal planning process, production scheduling, capacity planning, Distribution center planning and Inventory management for the Plant. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the plant's materials management function.
  • Support global planning SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operations, Planning) program to optimize supply chain efficiency and align it with the overall business objectives. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, operations, finance, and procurement, to ensure accurate production planning and inventory management.
  • Lead strategic planning for future capacity, aligning materials management strategies with long-term CAPEX planning related to Salt Lake City Plant.
  • Contribute to the SIOP meetings by communicating risks in the raw material and subassembly plans that could impact our ability to achieve finished good/shippable product output targets.
  • Drive decision-making processes to balance supply and demand, optimize inventory levels, and minimize stockouts and excess inventory for products produced by Salt Lake City Plant.
  • Ensure clear communication with key stakeholders on root cause of deviations to established production plan and provide recovery plans as required for products produced by Salt Lake City Plant.
  • Ensures work orders are maintained to expected completion dates. Expected completion dates must be aligned to the plan to manufacture.
  • Directly manage and collaborate with dedicated managers/supervisors for plant warehousing, material handlers, plant planning, and plant purchasing.
  • Oversee the optimization of plant warehousing operations and material handlers, ensuring effective storage, retrieval, and distribution of materials.
  • Implement inventory management strategies across all areas in plant to minimize waste and maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align materials management with overall production goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in materials handling, planning, and procurement. Collaborate with logistics partners and stakeholders to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Performs and manage employee performance reviews. 
  • Performs analysis of net requirements, capacity constraints, and material requirements in order to drive a production plan.
  • Coordinates with cross functional teams (Production, Tooling, Maintenance, etc) in the planning and execution of the detailed production plan
  • Drives improvements and is the key owner of KPI metrics associated with service to internal and external customers (Plan vs Attainment volume and mix, Unconstrained Not Released) 
  • Work with global supply chain team to establish and implement best practices related to the systems and processes that support planning, scheduling, purchasing and material control.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the materials management team and across the organization.
  • Leads the materials department in identifying potential problems with systems or processes and identifying possible solutions and process improvements. 
  • Gather, analyze, and validate data.
  • Provide input to the Supply Planning organization in developing Finished Goods inventory, safety stock, and target inventory strategies for existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
  • Coordinate and proactively communicate supply shortages and plans for recovery with global planning teams.
  • Achieves financial objectives by working with the management group in preparing and managing the materials departmental budget.
  • Participates as a member of the operations management team in making cross-functional operational decisions.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining, and aligning with plant safety objectives.
  • Provide strong leadership to the materials management team, setting clear goals, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Mentor and develop team members, supporting their professional growth and skill enhancement.
  • Collaborate with HR to identify talent needs, recruit top talent, and ensure adequate staffing to meet business requirements.
  • Maintain and accountable for accurate planning master data and transactional data for the Salt Lake City plant.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Education and Experience 

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • BS degree in Supply Chain Management, business or other related discipline
  • Master degree preferred 
  • APICS certification preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
  • 8 – 10 years’ experience in Materials Management or related field
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record of improving overall efficiencies, reducing cost and leading teams to effect positive change within the organization

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. 
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
