Are you excited to drive high-visibility, strategic logistics and technology solutions? Central Operations (Ops) JP is looking for an experienced Program Manager with a strong record of achieving results, to own and execute strategic initiatives for Amazon Logistics Extra Large (AMXL). AMXL is one of Amazon's fastest growing delivery network in Japan, specializing in oversized deliveries including furniture and electrical appliances. AMXL deliveries are offered in next day scheduled delivery speeds with installment and haul away options.

You will work cross-functionally and across geographies with stakeholders at all levels to understand and improve AMXL programs and initiatives for Central Ops implementation. This role offers the opportunity to partner closely with multiple functions and teams including AMXL program management, delivery station operations, tech, planning, scheduling, routing, on road services, system management, network design, and more in both Amazon Logistics (AMZL) and AMXL spaces. Such exposure and collaboration with a variety of teams allow opportunities for further career growth within Amazon and beyond.

You will actively solve problems ranging from immediate challenges to long term programs. You will manage multiple projects, own schedules, outline key milestones, and ensure deliverables are met. The work balances between working independently, influencing other stakeholders, and people managing. You will recommend data driven solutions, lead pilot tests to assess the program, and expand refined SOPs to operational teams. This position will be hiring, managing, and developing a small team of logistics specialists that will support both operations and program building.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define business requirements, translate requirements into project plans, manage implementation activities across a large group of stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute rollout plans and provide ongoing support
  • Create execution strategy, setting priorities and communicating across business partners and stakeholders
  • Engage cross-functionally to ensure we implement the business vision and operational goals efficiently
  • Scale services, tools, and processes that will enable network growth in volume, complexity, and geographic expansion while still maintaining the highest bar for the customer experience
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks, drive resolution of critical issues, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs and propose corrective actions to keep initiatives moving forward
  • Collaborate and build relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution and process excellence; identifying where we have gaps or redundancies; influencing leadership to streamline solutions and define mutually beneficial goals
  • Coordinate with team across various regions and geographies to understand, learn and implement and execute as per the Japan Market

A day in the life

While you will always strive towards one goal, delighting customers, no two days will be the same. You lead meetings with multiple stakeholders to drive alignment for your programs. You coordinate and write multiple SOPs and documents with management visibility, from strategic to tests to reviews, requiring multiple inputs from several stakeholders. You challenge the status quo and drive data based decisions making with cross-functional teams. You plan and organize to ensure seamless execution. You will continuously find new problems to solve and be required to partner with teams across Japan and the globe to deliver for our customers. You will engage with your team members over 1on1s to offer career coaching guidance. You take business trips within and outside Japan on a need basis to build your skills, network and to gain insights from other regions and bring and export best practices to and from Japan.

The Central Ops JP team is a back office team remotely supporting AMZL and AMXL operations across Japan. Our four pillars are standardization, optimization, centralization, and innovation. We offer a variety of services such as route plan, scheduling, volume adjustment, on road management, system configuration, and risk mitigation. We remove the gemba's burden so they can focus on what matters most under the roof for station associates and on the road for our drivers. AMXL JP team is a single threaded organization that owns Amazon's end-to-end Heavy & Bulky (H&B) logistics network with our willing and equally customer obsessed partners, offering shipping, service & support for consumers and companies in a safe, reliable, seamless, standardized, and sustainable way that surprises and delights our customers. Our delivery partners are experienced in H&B deliveries, providing special handling services such as Room of Choice Delivery, Installation/Assembly and Recycling/Haul-Away.

Our teams are made up of a diverse group of individuals across operations, supply chain, tech, finance, planning, customer experience, business intelligence and program management that work closely and collaboratively across Amazon to constantly improve and scale our operations, always insisting on the highest standards and obsessing over delivering bigger smiles for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience
  • 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
  • Business level English and Japanese

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree
  • 5+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
  • Excited about working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture
