Job Description:

We’re actively seeking a talented Senior Product Manager to join our Defined Contribution Lifetime Income team in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE to work a hybrid schedule or in the office.

As a Senior Product Manager, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by leading efforts to drive Defined Contribution Lifetime Income strategies, connect market needs to product roadmaps and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to define and communicate the product vision, goals and roadmap based on market research and company objectives.

How you will make an impact: 

  • Lead efforts in defining product features and necessary documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer and development of requirements across project teams. Products can include solutions proprietary to Pacific Life, or in collaboration with strategic partnerships 
  • Collaborate with and influence various stakeholders including risk, pricing, legal, finance, sales teams, and operations 
  • Ensure effective communication and alignment on product initiatives and goals in preparation for any internal approval processes 
  • Be viewed as the product “expert” for all stakeholders across the division 
  • In partnership with Delivery Acceleration, support the end-to-end product implementation process, including idea generation, requirements gathering, and product design to ensure seamless implementation 
  • Coordinate with marketing and sales teams to plan and execute successful product launches, which includes effective product positioning, training materials and optimal sales support via product collateral and presentation deck updates. Be able to lead and/or support product training across various stakeholders 
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, market trends. Gather insights to guide product development strategies. 
  • Monitor competitive landscape and create positioning and differentiators against competitors. Provide periodic competitive intelligence updates 
  • Identify market needs by leveraging insights from the sales / relationship management / strategic partnership teams 
  • Apply industry knowledge to drive product development strategies and identify market opportunities 
  • Track product performance metrics, client feedback, and market response. Continuously evaluate product success and identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement. Report out on progress to senior leadership as needed. 
  • Partner with our Consumer Markets Division (CMD) to understand enterprise product initiatives and determine areas of cross collaborations and info sharing, with the goal of creating economies of scale in the product development process 
  • Represent Pacific Life and our DCLI business at industry events and conferences 

The experience you will bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a similar field 
  • Demonstrated 10-12 years of experience in product development and/or product management 
  • Extensive knowledge of retirement solutions in the financial services industry, with a preference for Defined Contribution experience 
  • Ability to influence, partner and collaborate with divisional stakeholders 
  • Strong desire for collaboration and a demonstrated ability to think creatively

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate in ambiguity 
  • Deep knowledge of DC plans, lifetime income product types and competitor landscape 
  • An agile mindset and the ability to demonstrate results in a start-up environment 
  • Compelling presentation skills 
  • Finance background, with an ability to create proof of concept, create business cases, and understand pricing and profitability 
  • Desire to stay up-to-date with DCLI industry trends, emerging technologies and regulatory changes that impact the insurance landscape. 
  • Experience with retirement plan advisors, plan sponsors and plan administrators 
  • Advanced certifications or industry licensing

Base Pay Range:

The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

$175,860.00 - $214,940.00
