Principal Software Engineer - OMEN Gaming Hub

Description -

Responsible for designing, developing and mentorship activities for OMEN Gaming Hub from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life. Individuals in these roles may have responsibilities across multiple software engineering disciplines oh which the goal is development of creative, industry-leading, software services and solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Plays a critical role in building of various components of OMEN Gaming services while aligning them with business and security strategies and requirements.
  • Leads the building of standards, designs, and automates the deployment of software.
  • Design and develop solutions that protect and manage software products and data.
  • Assists in the creation of technology strategy and engineering roadmaps around software engineering.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Expertise of complex software systems, specifically targeted at the consumer/gaming market
  • Strong experience in software development, systems engineering, or software general engineering.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in cloud services (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud)
  • Strong knowledge of C#, Java, and/or C++ development
  • Expert business acumen and knowledge of root cause analysis and problem detection.
  • Experience designing and developing software applications design tools and languages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in overall architecture of software applications for products and solutions.
  • Evaluating and selecting forms and processes for software applications testing and methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at the business unit and executive levels.

Scope & Impact

  • Partners with product and other engineering teams to define business requirements, product design, deployment and adoption plans.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and advise various internal, partner, and customer teams on the needs and requirements of target markets.
  • Provides guidance for junior team members.
  • Decisions with regard to products may have organizational impacts of up to a year.

Complexity:

  • High: Extensive cross-functional/cross-organizational senior management interface; deals with complex strategic issues.
  • Unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories and techniques. Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Successfully operates in HP’s most complex disciplines.
  • Provides highly innovative solutions. Leads large, cross-division functional teams or projects that affect the organization's long-term goals and objectives. May participate in cross-division, multi-function teams. Provides mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence.
  • 10+ years of experience with Windows Application development (Win32, UWP, etc.) and cloud backend services

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $140,650.00 -- $200,000.00 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
