The Innovation Manager provides oversight, meeting facilitation, leadership, qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, and reporting across the spectrum of HHC Innovation work. The Innovation Manager supports the strategy, programs, and subject matter experts to achieve the health systems strategic Innovation goals. The Innovation manager is dynamic and hands on, working collaboratively across teams to foster positive partnerships within and beyond the Hartford Healthcare System. 

Position Responsibilities:

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide support to all phases of the Innovation Process
  • Initial coordination of efforts and intake process; new submissions, review by subject matter experts, disposition of submissions, next steps for potential collaborations
  • Assist with the facilitation, preparation, and presentation of companies that have gained clinical alignment for a Collaboration Agreement
  • Prepare materials for leadership meetings, events, discussions, etc.
  • Serve as a system wide resource and advocate for Innovation Process at HHC
  • Measure the impact of innovation initiatives and make recommendations for improvement
  • Track, monitor, and bring visibility to HHC Innovation initiatives
  • Refine and standardize the Innovation process for both internal and external customers
  • Support existing external and internal relationships
  • Maintain and update Innovation information on the HHC Innovation website.

Qualifications

Requirements and Specifications:

Education

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a healthcare field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred:

o Advanced degree in healthcare administration, business administration or a related field.

o Additional education or experience working with healthcare systems, startups, finance, marketing, as well as information and technology disciplines, is desirable

Experience

  • Minimum:

o Two to three years of healthcare administration or a related field.

o Two or more years of experience with project management and/or change management.

o Six months or more of exposure to innovation and entrepreneurship with startups.

  • Preferred:

o Three or more years of project and change management.

o One year or more experience working in an entrepreneurial and innovation environment.

o Experience in healthcare administration with an emphasis on Innovation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain innovation ecosystem and processes to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists, with a communication style that is open and fosters trust, credibility and understanding
  • Exceptional organizational, planning and project management abilities
  • Ability to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction including employees, patients, visitors, referring physicians and external stakeholders
  • Inspires confidence, appropriate risk taking and achievement of high standards; serves as a role model and as an agent of change; understands impact of change on others
