Role: 

We are looking for a Technical Writer for the ARC® Processor IP portfolio. This portfolio consists of proven 32-/64-bit CPU and DSP cores, subsystems, and software development tools. ARC processors are supported by a broad spectrum of 3rd-party tools, operating systems, and middleware from leading industry vendors. The ecosystem includes a comprehensive suite of free and open-source software available through the embARC Open Software Platform. Synopsys' ARC processors have been licensed by over 275 customers worldwide who ship more than 2.5 billion ARC-based chips in a year. Responsibilities:

We are looking for a motivated and innovative candidate to join our team. Responsibilities to develop and maintain documentation include:

• Gather information using prototype software, technical specifications, feature demos, and by working with developers and applications engineers.
• Plan, write, update, and deliver user documentation products including release notes, user guides, reference manuals, application notes, and tutorials.
• Interact with product teams and other technical writers.
• Evaluate information needs of the users and develop creative solutions to address these needs.

Requirements:

• You must have at least 5-8 years technical writing experience in software or hardware industry
• Ability to understand and write complex technical concepts for a technical audience (engineers and scientists).
• Thorough understanding of technical writing processes.
• Ability to formulate and ask pertinent questions to establish customer use models and context for using tools.
• Demonstrated ability to write for a global audience.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and flexibly with global teams.
• Experience communicating with non-native English speakers.
• Ability to make choices, reprioritize on short notice, and foster teamwork.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and drive them to completion.
• Experience with the semiconductor microprocessor industry or software tools for the microprocessors: compilers/debuggers/SDKs.
• Working knowledge of DITA
• Working knowledge of ReStructured Text (ReST)/Markdown and Sphinx/LaTeX infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of JSON/HTML usage in technical writing.
• Experience with GitLab/GitHub.
• Knowledge of HTML (for troubleshooting).
• Skill in adapting materials written by non-native English speakers.
• Experience with FrameMaker and the use of Microsoft Word for publishing complex documents.

Additional Skills Preferred

• Good to have: Understand python code to extend/support Sphinx infrastructure
• Experience with defect tracking systems, such as Jira.
• Functional knowledge of Linux or UNIX.
• Familiarity with standard style guides and their recommendations.
