American Specialty Health Incorporated is seeking a Sr. Manager - Creative Copy to join our Marketing department. As part of our award-winning internal creative agency, Engage! Creative Group, this management position will lead a team of creative writers, editors, and content creators. Working alongside creative designers, digital marketers, social media experts and more, this team conceptualizes and develops corporate-, client-, and member-facing marketing materials, including digital and print collateral, conference booths, video scripts, and omni-channel marketing campaigns. This position also represents the creative leadership team on interdepartmental projects with teams outside of marketing, which may include user experience design, human resources, consumer health information, clinical leadership, and others. Additionally, this position provides direction to Marketing and internal customers on trademarks, marketing-related regulatory compliance policies and issues, as well as other marketing management support as needed by the Senior Vice President. 

Salary Range

American Specialty Health complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate’s qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $69,200 to $90,000 Full-Time Annual Salary Range

Remote Worker Considerations 

Candidates who are selected for this position may be trained virtually or onsite and must have the capability to work from home (WFH) in a designated work area with company-provided technology equipment. This remote/WFH position requires you have a stable connection to your Internet Service Provider with the ability to participate by video in online meetings over a reliable and consistent network (minimum internet download of 50 Mbps and 50 Mbps upload speed). This position will require occasional onsite office work. ASH requires all onsite employees and employees who travel for their position to review and acknowledge ASH’s Communicable Disease and Pandemic Policy.

Responsibilities 

  • Leads writing staff.
  • Manages team of writers/editors, content managers, and content specialist(s) within marketing
  • Sets goals and objectives for staff that ladder up to company goals.
  • Assists staff in resolving issues.
  • Evaluates staffing needs; responsible for hiring as needed.
  • Coaches, counsels, and trains staff; promotes staff engagement.
  • Works with the Senior Vice President to develop growth paths and opportunities for staff.
  • Monitors staff project loads, assisting staff in prioritizing workloads and uncovering opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Prepares and delivers performance evaluations.
  • Oversees content marketing projects and copy decisions.
  • Leads content strategy, creative writing, and messaging guidelines for numerous internal brands and programs.
  • Collaborates with creative design director to ensure that brand messaging/voice/tone is correct and consistent, while ensuring marketing materials are produced on time.
  • Regularly reviews and approves content created by writers/editors, ensuring it is ready for VP and CEO review and approval as appropriate.
  • Provides writing leadership and support for company websites, videos, webinars, campaigns, and other requests.
  • Leverages data and testing to inform and communicate copy decisions, particularly for consumer-direct materials and campaigns.
  • Creates and leads copy testing and brand research as needed.
  • Represents marketing team throughout numerous meetings, leading, facilitating, presenting, and making decisions within them as appropriate.
  • Works with Regulatory Compliance to ensure language in materials is current and adheres to company standards and federal/state regulations as updated.
  • Provides Marketing direction and resources to internal departments.
  • Represents marketing team on Key Process Team/interdepartmental meetings.
  • Works with Associate Director, Marketing Operations to contribute to accreditation and quality audits.
  • Assists with answers to RFP questions from Proposal team.
  • Works with Contracts team to adjust agreement wording and update as needed.
  • Oversees content review for client-created materials across all programs.
  • Supports Fitness Operations in the development of annual and quarterly fitness program materials.
  • Works alongside Regulatory Compliance to ensure trademarks and disclaimers are current.
  • Advises internal clients of content compliance in corporate, client-, and member-facing materials.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, business, or similar required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience copywriting in a creative agency setting or similar.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in content marketing and/or marketing communications; including project management and supervision/leadership.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of managing direct reports.
  • Experience in leading, developing, and implementing B2B and B2C marketing campaigns.
  • PC proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint plus graphic design software (for editing text)
  • Experience with establishing and utilizing campaign analytics to improve results.
  • Experience with copy testing and/or brand research.
  • Familiarity with health care and/or fitness industry a plus
  • Must have the ability to think strategically, manage multiple projects, and generate creative, cost-effective solutions on time in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to exercise strict confidentiality in all matters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate internally and externally at all levels, including C-suite.

Mobility 

Primarily sedentary, able to sit for long periods of time. Travel as needed to support clients, 

conferences, tradeshows, and educational seminars, typically <10%. 

Physical Requirements 

Ability to speak, see and hear other personnel and/or objects. Ability to communicate both in verbal and written form. Ability to travel within the facility and external as needed. Capable of using a telephone and computer keyboard. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., if needed.
