The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the same items as the Cloud Engineers, but with more focus on automation, innovation, and project work. The Senior Cloud Engineer will also function as a mentor for the Cloud Engineers. This individual has in depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle and works closely with the development teams to effectively implement cloud-based solutions at scale. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation of the infrastructure and other supporting systems. The individual will be responsible for documenting and sharing knowledge, as well as training the Cloud Engineers and other teams in Engineering on new technologies. This individual works closely with the development teams and other customers to ensure Relias applications can be hosted effectively. This individual is primarily responsible for the cloud infrastructure in the Relias production environments.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Maintain a 60:40 focus on project work and innovation to operational maintenance.
  • Provide guidance, through leadership and mentorship to Engineering teams to develop cloud competencies. Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for cloud and system administration tasks.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code and other scripts. Participate in the review process before changes are merged into source control.
  • Design and manage cloud infrastructure architecture in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Work with the development teams to get an understanding of the application’s infrastructure requirements. Work together to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards and educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives by providing associated training as required.
  • Develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy cloud artifacts at an enterprise scale. Create, maintain, and update documentation for standard operating procedures to support them.
  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design. Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix, and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
  • Work closely alongside the software development team for software releases.
  • Develop and maintain software installation and configuration procedures.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all server resources, systems, and key processes. Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Create, change, and delete Cloud Identity Access Management (IAM) artifacts as needed. This includes user accounts, service accounts, app registrations, and managed identities, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Microsoft Windows Server OS
  • Linux OS
  • Cloud Administration: Azure, GCP, AWS
  • Web Administration and/or N-Tier Architecture
  • Virtual Networking: Layer 4, Layer 7, and Web Application Firewall
  • Git and Trunk Based Development
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • Pipelines: Azure DevOps and Jenkins
  • Kubernetes and Containers
  • Scripting: PowerShell and Bash
  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and Agile Principals
  • Data Backup Procedures
  • Storage Principles
  • 3-5 years of Windows Server Administration
  • 3-5 years of Cloud Administration
  • 1 year of Enterprise Networking fundamentals
  • Associates Degree in IT, Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent work experience

IT WOULD BE IDEAL IF YOU HAVE:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or equivalent certification
  • Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104) or equivalent certification

IN OFFICE REQUIREMENT:

Relias values collaboration and wants to ensure that our team members have opportunities to work with their teams regularly for professional development opportunities. Our flexible hybrid work environment requires that you live in the state of North Carolina, within a commutable distance to our office (~1-hour commute). You would be expected to work in our Morrisville, NC Headquarters approximately 30 days/quarter.
