Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Walmart Global Tech Applied AI team is looking for a passionate Staff Data Scientist in Bentonville, Arkansas to join world’s largest retailer to shape the future of retail by working on various supply chain related problems. You will have the chance to leverage advanced machine learning and optimization methods to tackle a wide range of real-world problems, such as vehicle routing optimization, driver-trip matching, trip pricing, supply/demand forecast and time prediction, driver workload matching and so on.

About Team: Our team is dedicated to enhancing supply chain and store operations, improve the efficiency and driving cost savings by leveraging innovative technology and working closely with supply chain and store operations business, product management, and engineering teams. We strive to empower team members, stores, and the supply chain with cutting-edge solutions that optimize end-to-end delivery, warehouse optimization, fulfillment, and store associate operations. What you'll do:

As the Staff Data Scientist, you will:

  • Design, build, test and deploy cutting edge associate engine solutions at scale, impacting store operations and millions of customers worldwide.
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to highly skilled and motivated junior data scientist.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business, product, and engineering, to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
  • Research and develop advanced algorithms and techniques that address complex business problems.

What you'll bring:

  • Master's degree in computer science, Statistics, Optimization, or related field plus 5 years' experience in a machine learning/deep learning related field.
  • Expertise in Machine Learning – Classical methods/ Deep Learning/ Reinforcement Learning, Causal Inference, Statistics.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, and Java, with an understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Solid knowledge of advanced machine learning models, including model fit testing, tuning, and validation techniques.
  • Familiarity with model assessment and validation process.
  • Experience developing, training, validating, benchmarking, and monitoring machine learning algorithms.
  • Experienced with end-to-end modeling projects emerging from ideation.
