Position Title: Accounts Payable Manager

Location: Guangzhou, China

Position Overview

The Accounts Payable Manager reports directly to Asia Pacific Hub Manager and RTR Director and dotted line to Global Accounts Payable Director and has primary responsibility to define, implement and operate Accounts Payable and Banks’ Payment activities based in Guangzhou, China.

The role holder will raise existing standards, always with a continuous improvement mindset and high responsiveness to all stakeholders, being a role model to share best practices within H. B. Fuller group.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ownership for the implementation of Accounts Payable and Banks’ payment strategies, policies, processes and projects.
  • Streamlining, transforming and monitoring the effectiveness of the overall operations within the Accounts Payable and Banks’ Payment functions.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of the Accounts Payable and Banks’ payment areas to engage with stakeholders and senior managers to optimize how services are delivered; defining key projects and initiatives to address performance gaps and continuously improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery.
  • Maintain and leverage key performance indicators usage and culture.
  • Review and improve full Accounts Payable and Payment cycle, working with Corporate Treasury, Accounting, Operations, Sourcing and other cross-functional departments.
  • Drive Accounts Payable and Payment activities’ continuous improvements, automate processes and implement activities and change management; identify opportunities to improve the processes via system changes or ways to work and mitigate control issues.
  • Business Partner (coach, challenge, analyze, support & enable) Sourcing teams.
  • Deliver ongoing spend reporting to help different departments identify savings opportunities;.
  • Ensures Accounts Payable and Payment accounting policies are documented and applied consistently with the principles established on H.B. Fuller’s Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions; ensuring that internal controls (SOX) are effective and efficient.
  • Manage and control the daily cash flow of China companies, monitoring China cash pool balances, currency exposures and optimizing the daily multi-currency flow.
  • Oversee and control intercompany bank transfers to assure that timescales for payments and receivables established by the company are accomplished.
  • Oversee payments done payment team to suppliers (e.g. payroll providers, tax authorities, etc.) guaranteeing that payments are timely and accurately done to meet fiscal and contractual obligations.
  • Develop and manage relations with the company banks (e.g. HSBC, Bank of China, ….) and other financial entities, contacting on a regular basis with them concerning daily operational activities.
  • Ensure all team members are performing at or above required expectations and have a career development plan.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in Accounts Payable and Banks’ Payment activities
  • Experience of successful process improvement initiatives.
  • Proven experience in Shared Services environment.
  • Able to manage international projects and change management.
  • Proven leader of people: building and developing a team, managing teams through change and collaboration.
  • Strong written & verbal business communication skills in English.
  • Ability to travel.
  • High level of business system skills.
