A senior engineering professional who independently applies advanced engineering knowledge to complete complex assignments, who provides technical guidance regarding all aspects of software test planning and execution to ensure the development of the highest quality software applications as well as compliance to regulatory and quality standards.

The position requires interaction with the software development team, project management, and senior management to communicate verification requirements and project status.

The Software Automation Test Lead will have direct responsibility for the quality oversight of software applications, including automation test framework, workstation system, the development of requirements traceability matrices, software verification plans and associated reports, and the conformance to company procedures for the software development lifecycle.

The job function includes providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior engineers.

What You’ll Work On

  • Manage and maintain automation test framework to support software releases.
  • Verify functionality of software products using systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products.
  • Develop, modify, and execute software test plans and generate test reports.
  • Develop, modify, and maintain software requirements and traceability matrices.
  • Analyze and write test standards and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software.
  • Analyze test results to ensure correct functionality, determine root causes of failures and recommend corrective action.
  • Contribute to user documentation.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and project status reviews.
  • Consult with development engineers in resolution of problems.
  • Assess build readiness based on informal data gathering, ability to differentiate the need and application of smoke, system, regression, white box, and black box testing. 
  • Software testing responsibilities include executing software development life cycle activities from software requirements, design, and implementation through design verification.
  • Multi-tier software integration and testing.
  • Must develop software test strategies including regression analysis.
  • Review code changes, discuss approach to testing and ensure change sets are testable.
  • Responsible for fault isolation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities during software integration and testing for systems in development and on-Market.
  • Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with the Company’s Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree with 6+ years of related experience an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Or Bachelor’s Degree 8-10 years of related experience an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Expert experience in designing and developing complex software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing guidance to junior team members.
  • Expert knowledge in modern programming languages such as C/C++/C# or Python & agile methodologies.
  • Expert level of understanding of test-driven methodologies
  • Expert level of knowledge with continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD)
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to develop & design at the feature-level.
  • Expert level understanding of design patterns.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Evolves the architecture to support future requirements and defines its service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Leads the technical excellence of the system and creates plans to mitigate outages.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining automation framework and tools (i.e., UFT)
  • Experience in agile and lean delivery concepts and methodologies, and a history of successfully applying this knowledge to deliver applications 
  • Experience in working in continuous integration and deployment environment.
  • Experience in working in medical device development or controlled and heavy regulated environment
  • Experience in Atlassian suite – Bamboo, JIRA, Bitbucket and confluence

The base pay for this position is

$95,000.00 – $190,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
