Division: Institutional Securities Technology (IST)

Institutional Securities Technology (IST) is part of Technology. This group is responsible for developing enterprise applications for a diverse set of businesses including Fixed Income, Equities, Commodities, Investment Banking, Research, and Global Capital Markets. In addition, IST provides technology solutions for client-aligned groups and company-wide divisions, such as Finance and Operations, post-trade functions within the Institutional Securities Group and standardized data and enterprise-wide services to provide leverage to the Firm's businesses.

We are looking for a senior Java developer with Financial Service experience. The role includes a combination of long-term strategic development and shorter-term business focused development.

The ideal candidate will be expected to gain expertise in several components of this platform and take full ownership of their assignments from requirements gathering to rollout. The nature of the application development tasks could be in support of one or many of adding business logic, new services, maintenance, bug fix, QA automation or framework development subject to qualifications.

Qualifications

Skills Required:

  • Developer with relevant Java development experience
  • Strong knowledge of core/server-side Java Development experience in object-oriented programming and working with mixture of new and legacy system
  • The candidate must be willing to communicate directly with clients they serve (ex. Traders, Sales representatives, Operations and other technology partners)
  • Good problem-solving, result-focused, can-do attitude, and strong focus to keep the business running and competitive.
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Open to learn and work with other technologies (eg: Python) as business objectives require

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
