Job Description

Agile Decision Sciences is actively seeking a SQL/Power BI Developer to join our team and support development efforts for a government client

The SQL/Power BI Developer role will provide support to the operations of the Energy Compensation System (ECS), Division of Energy Employee Occupational Illness Compensation while providing expertise in software development lifecycle phases from concept and design to testing. This role will work within the Reporting Team and will focus on the interpretation of the Application’s underlying database model & data relationships, performing data analysis (in-depth SQL querying), and working with business users and analysts to define Reports, while validating, defining and streamlining of the Reporting Requirements as they relate to the Application’s Business Processes & Rules.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports the program as a liaison to internal customers, research groups and various business support areas.
  • Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents
  • Perform coding to written technical specifications
  • Investigate, analyze, and document reported defects
  • Perform maintenance programming and correction of identified defects
  • Creates, documents, and implements unit test plans, and scripts
  • Performs related duties as assigned
  • Update, repair, modify and expand existing SQL server scripts and RDL.
  • Generate Power BI reports and dashboards according to customer needs.
  • Knowledge of database architecture and design and work experience with SQL programming with at least one of DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server.
  • Must possess a solid foundation in PL/SQL Programming Language and experience.
  • Ability to code SQL scripts according to published standards and design guidelines.
  • Ability to interpret written requirements and technical specification documents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Must possess solid troubleshooting skills to solve complex problems.
  • Able to adapt to change and work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Detail-oriented and meets strict deadlines.

Requirements

Required Experienced:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of supporting database applications/tools for extraction, transformation, and raw data analysis
  • 6+ years of SQL Server 2008R2, 2012 or 2016 Experience
  • 3+ years of evaluating and improving data quality
  • 3+ years of experience in Power BI development
  • 3+ years of data warehouse data analysis, modeling, and design
  • 5+ years of SQL Server Management Studio SSMS to provide import and export, copy data from one data source to another
  • 5+ years of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data integration and workflow applications
  • 5+ years of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to manage UI reporting.
  • 5+ years of ETL
  • Experience in JIRA
  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
  • Exposure to Agile Development, SCRUM is preferred
  • Experience with cross-platform compatibility is a huge plus
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Will be required to possess or successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI), and an FBI Criminal History Check.
