DESCRIPTION

The Safety Coordinator provides technical support and tactical execution in the implementation of Amazon Global Environmental, Health and Safety programs within assigned fulfillment center.

This position requires an individual that will be responsible for the proactive, day-to-day monitoring of the Amazon Safety program. This individual will assist the safety manager in monitoring safety compliance and provide assistance in the identification of potential safety hazards within the FC environment. The qualified candidate will engage in a professional manner with the entire FC workforce and management team as it relates to safety awareness and education. The candidate will communicate, both written and orally, to assist in correcting violations and promote the program of safety awareness.

  • Serve as designated safety representative of assigned fulfillment center (FC), coordinating and implementing all areas of the Amazon Global Safety Program as directed by Safety Manager
  • Influence behavior and inspire commitment on the part of all personnel in complying with Amazon safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Conduct training and coach associates on observed work habits in support of this effort.
  • Support management’s efforts to ensure compliance with corporate Safety Program expectations and applicable federal and state law. Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly and monthly audits.
  • Maintain required paperwork to comply with Amazon standards.
  • Perform safety observations, audits, and projects including parking lot duties

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
  • High school or equivalent
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
  • Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
  • Candidate must be willing to respond as appropriate to all emergencies
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the position
  • Associates must be in good standing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Safety or technical degree
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years previous experience in Safety-related activities preferred
  • Educational achievements will be considered and can be used in conjunction with experience.
  • Exemplary attendance record.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer focus skills
  • Experienced in emergency response
  • Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a safety related field
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues
  • Experience with OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910
