What We Need

The Senior Manager, Engineering will lead and be responsible for all projects within the Service Center Technology initiative. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge & understanding across a wide array of healthcare operational domains. It will be important for the individual in this role to have experience with IT integration service organizations for seamless and optimized partnership with vendors.

You will be leading teams of engineers and analysts to deliver software applications to meet the business needs of the enterprise. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting software systems in the enterprise as well as being accountable for task prioritization, resource allocation, capacity management and development & quality metrics of the engineering team. You will work closely with business teams to understand the challenges and co-develop business cases to deliver solutions guided by speed to value metrics & oversee the project team to ensure each phase is completed accurately, on time, and within budget.

Your Day to Day

  • Technical Guidance: Foster strong technical practices through code reviews, architectural design collaboration and security within your team 
  • Execution: Partner with Product Manager to ensure sprints are aligned with work that is high value. Unblock and empower the team to be agile and high velocity. Be willing to get hands-on with the code when needed
  • Delivery: Own the responsibility for successful delivery against OKRs. Lead the team in establishing best practices in estimations, story scoping, balancing trade offs, executing against commitments and increasing accountability
  • Project Management: Collaborate with Senior Management, Direct Reports, Product Managers, Designers, DevOps and QA to ensure smooth relationships. Work with peer Engineering Managers to optimize cross team collaboration
  • Strategy: Partner with Product, Design, Senior and Staff engineers to drive business, product and technical strategy to meet the product and technical goals for the team 
  • Retention and Hiring: Work with the Recruiting and People department to conduct interviews and hire new engineers. Actively work to engage and retain the existing talent and experience on the team
  • People Management: Provide career development, coaching and mentorship to your direct reports. Conduct performance reviews and provide real-time feedback to drive high performance
  • Communication: Keep teams aligned on how their work ties into the overall strategic initiatives of their org and the company. Use fitting opportunities to bring transparency and crisp communication to their team
  • Team Builder: Build high performing teams and empower your team. Give them the authority and support to make decisions
  • Future Thinker: Relentlessly work towards improving engineering excellence, process, and culture by setting clear goals and outcomes and achieving those goals

We’re Looking for:

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Very strong technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.
  • Knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of management.
  • Healthcare domain knowledge preferably IT & Operations experience
  • Solution architectural knowledge and expertise in solving data oriented issues/defects
  • certificate or degree in computer science or a related field, several years of working in software development, and management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent. 
  • Strong technical foundation in software engineering design principles
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering
  • 3+ years experience managing or leading software engineering teams developing SaaS products in an agile environment
  • Understanding of modern backend (microservices, cloud, distributed systems)
  • Proficient in one of the core languages (Java, TypeScript, Python, Golang, etc.)
  • Experience building enterprise SaaS products in highly regulated environments with low risk tolerance is highly preferred
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring software engineers
  • Experience in building empowered teams and processes

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering. Masters preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience leading multi-level engineering teams
  • 5-8 years of managing globally distributed engineering teams with associates and vendor resources
  • Experience in Healthcare payer industry is preferred
  • Hands on experience in designing and developing large scale software systems
  • Experience in developing software systems on Public cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure) and Hybrid models
  • Experience in Microservices, API, Data Mesh, Lake House architectures.
  • Experience with CRM systems

Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $185,680.00

The job posting range is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs and affordability.

This job is also eligible for variable pay.
