MITRE is seeking a Financial Analyst who will be a valuable member and contributor for the Corporate FP&A team, working closely to build and support financial reports for the CFO, sector financial leads, and other business leaders within Finance and across various functions. The Financial Analyst will provide a variety of services ranging from the tracking of financial performance across to enterprise to supporting the business units through the budget and forecast cycle.

A successful candidate requires intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and strong business and financial acumen, particularly with an understanding of the government contracting environment. Past experience with MITRE as well as working knowledge of MITREs financial tools and systems are a plus. The role will be responsible for:

  • Lead integration of various financial topics into quarterly Board of Trustees materials by collaborating across Finance teams
  • Provide support to development of financial materials for the executive leadership team meetings
  • Partner with Sector and Corporate Finance leadership to develop monthly MD&A commentary to inform executive leadership of key business drivers
  • Provide support to Finance Strategic Programs to drive process improvement and increase financial literacy across the organization
  • Identify key connection points between various Corporate Finance functions and establish processes to drive increased integration
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and support to special projects as it relates to demand, supply, capacity, and indirect rates
  • Seeking out opportunities to streamline processes, eliminate work redundancies, and improve accessibility to accurate financial data
  • Being a thought leader among peers, staff, and stakeholders

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate findings into actionable solutions and processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft office applications to include advanced excel modeling and creation of PowerPoint presentations
  • Individual contributor role with significant engagement with senior leadership
  • Treats change as an opportunity to grow and adapts behaviors to deal effectively with change
  • Strong time manager; able to prioritize effectively while creating space for original thinking and thoughtful analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in finance or accounting within a government contracting environment
  • Preferred experience with various financial systems to include Costpoint, OneStream and/or Tableau
  • Can work successfully in an ambiguous environment
  • Takes appropriate risks to improve processes, outputs, and results
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex financial topics to colleagues and senior leadership
