Amentum, a large government contract company, is seeking a Transportation Lead to support a pending contract award in Haiti. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Transportation Lead (TL) will report to Transportation and Logistics Manager and Program leadership and will share responsibility for the performance of the work of full contract matters relating to the daily transportation activities operations within this contract.

The TL will support the management and execution of transshipments between conveyances as necessary using DoD/Army AIS to assist in management and visibility. This will include, but not be limited to, transportation planning to ensure it is accomplished so as to support the Army mission – including logistical planning across all operational phases including planning, setting, operating, and restoring the theater.

  • Transportation planning across all operational phases including transportation to and from the theater and transportation within the theater.
  • Plan transportation support as it relates to vehicle availability, operators, load mastering, and other similar transportation requirements.
  • Plan itinerary and schedule travel accommodations for military and civilian personnel with dependents according to travel orders using knowledge of routes, types of carriers, and travel regulations.
  • Verify travel orders to ensure costs, availability, and convenience of different types of carriers to select most advantageous route and carrier; notify personnel of travel dates, baggage limits, and medical and visa requirements; and determine that all clearances have been obtained.
  • Assist personnel in completing travel forms and other business transactions pertaining to travel, may deliver personnel files and travel orders to people prior to departure, meet and inform arriving personnel of available facilities and housing and furnish other information, and may arrange for motor transportation for arriving or departing personnel.

The TL shall be available within 2 hours to meet on the installation with Government personnel to discuss problem areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in military logistical planning and management at the operational command level
  • Knowledgeable about Army logistics at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels and operational contract support and must be able to write documents that are clear and free from errors
  • Ability to function in an office setting, answer the phone, use office equipment, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and be capable of adjusting to the communication style appropriate for the audience
  • Ability to listen and understand supported unit requirements
  • Knowledgeable about and have experience with the military decision-making process
  • Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid US or local driver's license and US passport
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. 
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment as required
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide)

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience providing excellent customer service in supporting contract responsibilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules and under pressure of deadlines while maintaining performance standards

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent

This position may be located in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this environment. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
