Amentum, a large government contract company, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator Lead to support a pending contract award in Haiti. 

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities will be to supervise, manage and lead a team of Heavy Equipment Operators in order to meet heavy equipment requirements on a government contract on a military installation. Must have the ability to lead and to perform the required work as well functioning as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

  • Must be able to determine type and application of equipment to use in various maintenance and repair operations; operate construction equipment to finish grade, level, slope, and compact construction materials.
  • Must be able to investigate proposed work sites to determine resource requirements, plan and estimate jobs, coordinate and plan work requirements with other civil engineering and base agencies and inspect work to ensure quality and compliance with policies, regulations, and other publications.
  • Must be able to maintain, and repair graded roads, graveled roads and acreage, open ditches, drainage, foundations and slabs on grade.
  • Inspect truck for defects before and after trips.
  • Monitor vehicle during operation and reports maintenance/repair requirements to Dispatcher.
  • Secures loads being transported to ensure safe and undamaged arrival at destination.
  • Report and receives direction via radio or cellular phone.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of material transported.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance adjustments to truck.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of three (3) years experience at a military installation with similar mission/project in scope and nature
  • Highly organized, able to meet deadlines and manage shifting priorities
  • High degree of personal integrity; ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Valid US or local driver's license and US passport
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. 
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment as required
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide)
  • Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce preferred

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience providing excellent customer service in supporting contract responsibilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules and under pressure of deadlines while maintaining performance standards

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS

This position may be located in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this environment. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
