  • Pay Range: $35.00 - $45.00 CAD hourly

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide maintenance and Engineering support to Picture and Sound operations.

A Company3 Systems Engineer helps design, build, monitor and maintain various systems to increase up-time and performance of infrastructure equipment, increase insight into systems and services, and help improve the overall productivity of various workflows throughout the facility. The Systems Engineer is responsible for collaborating with employees from all departments including Operations, Facilities and Production IT to help solve technology issues that impact specific productions and/or the overall productivity of Company3 Toronto.

MAIN DUTIES:

The responsibilities of this Systems Engineer position are primarily engineering support for Picture Post-production; however, they ultimately extend across all departments. 

These include picture, sound, dailies, encoding, QC and Data I/O.

Engineering:

  • Provide maintenance and Engineering support to Picture and Sound operations
  • Setup and configure new systems
  • Advocate technical solutions for the operations department
  • Provide technical expertise and support operations to minimize downtime
  • Support and troubleshoot production workflows while ensuring Company3 security standards are followed
  • Train production staff on new equipment and systems
  • Maintain engineering documentation
  • Stay current with technology and industry trends
  • Moderate shift work, on call and some weekend work during heavy production periods may be required
  • Other duties as required by the VP of Engineering & Technology

Security:

  • Assist in ensuring that established security procedures are being adhered to in Engineering, and within the operations and workflows of each department
  • Assist in the implementation, updating, improving and monitoring of Company3 security policies and procedures

General Quality of Service:

  • Ensure excellent customer service by recognizing and meeting the needs of operations and clients
  • Relay any technical concerns in an effective and timely manner
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the mission and values of Company 3

WHAT YOU BRING:

The ideal candidate will be experienced with SDI and digital media over network video, network and operating systems, routing systems and control systems within a post-production / broadcast environment. They will have an advanced knowledge of Windows, Linux, Mac OS and how they interact with Apple and PC hardware. They will bring experience supporting post-production software such as DaVinci Resolve, Colorfront Trankskoder, Express Dailies / On Set Dailies, Avid Media Composer, Apple Final Cut, and Avid ProTools. Additional desired skills include:

  • Technical understanding of various film & television specifications and standards 
  • Ability to evaluate, learn, and implement new software and hardware 
  • Exceptional Customer Service skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a calm, professional and courteous manner 
  • Self-motivated, also able to work within a team environment 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Understanding and working knowledge of standard and high dynamic range video content, and how each is derived and delivered to the end user with current adopted standards a plus
  • Experience with professional broadcast streaming technologies such as Streambox and Clearview products along with live network video streaming products such as NDI a plus 
  • Experience with Sound engineering support is a plus
