About The Role 

FTI Consulting’s Dispute Advisory Services (DAS) segment and Energy, Power and Products service line provides an array of expert and strategic consulting services. Our expertise covers the spectrum between the reservoir and the end user, with decades of hands-on experience in upstream, midstream, and downstream operations, providing expertise and solutions in many areas such as energy regulation, energy asset valuation, chemicals, and petroleum engineering, as well as broad-based experience in the power and renewables industries. We focus on the unique challenges impacting the complex energy sector across the value chain to assist clients with disruptive commodity markets, conflicting regulatory frameworks, transformational industry change, pervasive disputes, and costly litigation that can include: 

  • Commercial disputes (breach of contract, post-acquisition, unfair competition) 
  • Accounting and regulatory enforcement (accounting irregularities, malpractice claims) 
  • Financial products and services (securities, crypto-currencies, MBS, derivatives, AML) 
  • Intellectual property infringement and theft (patents, trade secrets, trademarks) 
  • Valuation, restructuring, and solvency 
  • Antitrust 

What You’ll Do 

  • Apply economic, financial, valuation, and analytical skills to address specific client needs 
  • Perform technical, industry, and company research utilizing extensive information sources/tools 
  • Fact-finding and data analytics including statistical and econometric analyses of large datasets 
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess complex unstructured problems 
  • Supervise and perform day-to-day activities in support of client consulting engagements 
  • Interaction with FTI team members, client personnel, and professionals from other firms 
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations summarizing findings for clients and other parties 
  • Work with Senior Managing Directors on practice management and business development 
  • Cross-practice collaboration with other FTI Consulting segments on office and firm initiatives

This is an excellent opportunity for a person with proven accounting and analytical experience to join a growing, dynamic team, and work on a variety of projects in a wide range of industries. Senior Consultants will have opportunities to collaborate laterally and vertically, internally, and externally, as well as lead smaller projects, or specific workstreams of larger projects, and innovate by developing various approaches to complex issues, alongside senior team members. 

What You Will Need to Succeed 

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering (with PE license) 
  • 3+ years of relevant post-graduate professional experience in oil and gas, power, or renewable energy industries, and/or associated strategic, financial and/or accounting consulting experience 
  • Industry knowledge and understanding of upstream, midstream and/or downstream oil and gas and/or power and renewable industries and operations 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and strong Excel financial modeling skills 
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI office(s) as needed 
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, this position does not provide visa sponsorship

Preferred Skills 

  • Master’s degree preferred in business, accounting, finance, or related field 
  • Proven people management and leadership skills, including leading teams of professionals 
  • Ability to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar industries, markets, businesses 
  • Ability to develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems 
  • Experience with large database software programs such as SQL Server, Microsoft Access a plus 
  • Experience with statistical or econometric software programs such as SAS, Stata, and/or R a plus 
  • Strong analytical skills 
  • Prior business valuation experience a plus 
  • Excellent listening and verbal and written communication skills 
  • Professional designations (e.g., CPA, CFA, PE, CFE, ABV, CFF, CVA, ASA) or desire to pursue
