Senior R&D Engineer-Data Science

You will be working as Senior R&D Engineer Data Science at global grade 13 and will be part of Process Automation business area for Energy Industries division based in Bangalore, India. In this role you will be reporting to R&D Team Lead and will be responsible for contributing significantly to successful project results in technology, software, product or solution development, as well as associated Intellectual Property (IP) by identifying, proposing and implementing innovative solutions. Acting as the first point of contact in Research and Development (R&D) or software development or product engineering for specific product-related issues and maintenance.

Your responsibilities

• Having a good understanding of the use cases and key business requirements for data driven solutions in cooperation with ABB’s business divisions and end customers
• Investigating and evaluating efficient system architectures, machine learning algorithms and software engineering approaches for computation in cloud, on-premise or virtual environment for specific industrial applications requiring process automation and data analytic such as anomaly detection
• Performing data exploration, pre-processing, analysis and evaluation
• Exploring and visualizing the data to gain an understanding of it and then identifying differences in data distribution that could affect performance when deploying the model in the real world
• Providing support for pilot evaluation of analytics solution, technology evaluation and productization of analytics-led solutions
• Being proficient or having the capability to become proficient in development, evaluation, testing of analytics solutions, developing analytics workflow, model maintenance and troubleshooting software issues

Your background

• Batchelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering
• Minimum experience of 8 to 9 years with 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in usage of data analytics and machine learning libraries for monitoring, diagnosis and predictive maintenance and relevant data visualization tools
• Having good knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning (supervised and unsupervised learning techniques), deep learning, model optimization, time-series analysis etc
• Having good experience in R or Python
• Exposure to C#, .Net Core is added advantage
• Having good knowledge and exposure to devops processes (CI/CD), dockers and containers
• Having ability to communicate effectively in English with internal and external partners including academic community
