Data Science Senior Analyst

What you’ll achieve

As a Data Science Analyst you will be responsible for assisting with the validation and risk assessment of models across all functions of DFS. A major focus of the role will be on the continued quality assurance of global credit application models and key European Banking & Finance regulatory models such as IFRS 9 ECL models and ICAAP models. The validation of these models underpins the quantification of credit loss for the financial & regulatory returns including regulatory capital requirements and impairment provisions. You will work with Decision Sciences on building out the validation process and schedule to ensure that all validations are completed within the agreed timeframe and according to documented regulatory guidelines.

You will:

  • Help perform the validation of all models to through rigorous testing of all phases of the model development process, including the development of challenger models.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure development of best in class models that address stakeholder requirements and business needs
  • Responsible to help develop and maintain model validation documentation, policies and validation procedures; Conduct periodic training, research and development of new models, methodologies and scorecard/model business usage.
  • Responsible for retrieval and manipulation of diverse data, performance of regular reviews and report generation, and maintenance of automated applications (e.g. Shiny). Derive appropriate recommendations based on results from the work conducted.
  • Present validation findings & recommendations at relevant governance committees, communicating findings and insights gathered through model validation to both the Decision Science management and collaborate with internal partners.

Essential Requirements 

  • Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics, a related quantitative discipline or prior experience of 1+ years as a Data Scientist.
  • Experience with statistical modelling and reviewing techniques.
  • Experience working with R or Python for Data Manipulation, Modelling and Visualization.
  • Good communication and presentation skills, self-starter with ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively communicate technical work to a wide audience is required.
  • End-to-end experience with data, including querying, aggregation and visualization is required. Experience of understanding, producing and developing reports/dashboards using SQL, R Markdown, FlexDashboard and htmlWidgets.

Desirable Requirements 

  • Previous experience operating in a regulated financial entity.
  • IFRS 9 ECL or GVAR Macroeconomic modelling experience a major plus.
