We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Inventory Growth Reservoir Engineer in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Delaware Basin Business Unit based in Houston, TX.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to identify and evaluate improvement opportunities in the Permian Resources, Delaware portfolio
  • Frame multiple trades, sales, and/or development scenarios and calculate associated economics, reserves, and potential risk in production and cash flow
  • Collaborate with the Appraisal, Development, Geology, and Well Analysis and Design groups to understand resource potential in a given asset
  • Initiate and/or support evaluation of acreage trades, sales, and purchases to improve Oxy’s ownership positions 
  • Responsible for economic evaluations of non-operated projects
  • Understand competitor activity, development plans, and technical strategies around Delaware Basin assets 
  • Identify opportunities for data trades and well trials to improve subsurface understanding and increase well economics

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline
  • Experience: 5+ years of related experience
  • Skills/Competencies:

o Experience working in the Permian Basin, New Mexico preferred

o Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening/presentation)

o Skillful in economic software packages (PEEP/Enersight/Aries/Mosaic)

o Understanding of a variety of types of land/lease requirements and details

o Understanding of typical oil and gas deal structures

o Exceptional understanding of economics, economic drivers, and business acumen

o Exceptional integration, communication, and decision-making skills

o Understanding of unconventional reservoir engineering workflows

o General understanding of reserves booking in unconventional reservoirs

o Entrepreneurial drive and risk tolerance

o Multi-tasking and problem solving with ability to analyze and recommend solutions on projects with a high degree of uncertainty

o Ability to interact effectively with team members, other departments, and working interest partners

o Basic understanding of well construction and surface facilities

o Basic understanding of artificial lift systems and operations
