Introduction

ASML brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. ASML has developed metrology equipment (YieldStar) to integrate with our existing lithography equipment and control loops to enhance the manufacturing capabilities. Those control loops run on our proprietary software on a Virtual Computing Platform (VCP). 

As an ASML Applications Engineer – Factory Automation you are responsible for introduction, maintenance, upgrade, and overall support of the VCP/LCP and its’ associated control loops and diagnostics that run on the platform. You work with closely with applications to further customer testing, and control loop qualification. You provide technical support, and are responsible for the necessary transfer of knowledge to the customer on this platform.

Our main headquarters are located in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and we also have nearly 20 office locations around the United States. The holder of this position will be based in ASML Boise (ID, USA), reporting directly to the on-site Applications manager. You’ll have peers in other sites that work in a similar position and will serve as your reference and knowledge resource.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Represents ASML at the customer’s site in a professional way
  • Performs qualification of software functionality & maintain computing system of VCP/LCP
  • Provides technical support on integration of systems, in order to minimize impact on production output
  • Interfaces with internal and external customers on technical issues and improvement proposals
  • Documents and transfers knowledge on existing and newly introduced products
  • Operate as the escalation owner for all complex issues on VCP/LCP
  • Prepares written technical reports such as escalations updates and installation progress to internal and external
  • Perform administrative and coordination duties, including procedure changes, pass-downs, work orders, field service and monthly reports

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or a similar engineering degree and equivalent years of experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience with focus on software / server systems.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Linux environment (Red Hat or Centos, Ubuntu)
  • Minimum 1 year experience with knowledge of Docker, Hadoop, Kubernetes, or Splunk.
  • Minimum 6 months experience owning a technical workstream or with project management.
  • Minimum 6 months experience understanding factory automation (XML, HTTP, EDI, SECS, GEM)
