About the role

As an Architect/Principal Engineer specializing in Python, AWS, and Django at Planful, you will play a key role in designing and architecting highly scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions within our Planful for Marketing product line. You will be responsible for leading the technical strategy, guiding the development team, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in Python, AWS, and Django to drive innovation, solve complex technical challenges, and shape the future of our products and services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience (12+ years) as a Senior/Lead Software Engineer or Architect, with a strong focus on Python, AWS, and Django development.
• Expertise in Python programming language and Django web framework, with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
• Extensive experience with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS services such as EC2, ECS, DynamoDB S3, Lambda, RDS. IAM experience is preferred, but not required.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and serverless computing.
• Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, integrating with third-party services, oAuth / OIDC, and handling data storage and retrieval.
• Experience in finding out the bottlenecks and scaling the systems using various infrastructure services like caching, data partitioning, load balancing, async processing, etc…
• Proficiency in database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Amazon Aurora.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach engineering teams, foster a culture of collaboration, and drive technical excellence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and technical implementation of Python-based software solutions within our Planful for Marketing product line, leveraging AWS services and Django framework to build scalable and resilient applications.
• Define technical requirements, design specifications, and architecture diagrams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and scalability requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team, driving best practices, code quality standards, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with product management, UX/UI designers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions, prioritizing features and delivering projects on time.
• Evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks, conducting proof-of-concepts and making recommendations for adoption based on technical feasibility and business impact.
• Conduct code reviews, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve system reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Champion security best practices, compliance standards, and data protection measures, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data.
• Stay updated on emerging trends, industry best practices, and advancements in Python, AWS, and Django development, sharing knowledge and insights with the team.
