BGL, a fast-growing investment banking firm, is seeking a skilled and knowledgeable IT Support Specialist to join our Information Technology team in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will be a full-time employee responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of computer systems. IT Support Specialist duties include diagnosing and troubleshooting computer systems, resolving network issues, providing timely technical support to users, ensuring a high level of customer service, managing tickets within the ticketing system, and working on small to medium-complexity projects and implementations to improve IT infrastructure and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure hardware and software components.
  • Repair or replace damaged hardware.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in person, remotely, and via phone.
  • Provide technical support to users regarding software and hardware malfunctions.
  • Manage tickets effectively, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of issues.
  • Train users on new systems or software applications.
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs, fixes, and maintenance schedules.
  • Assess the functionality of computer systems and networks.
  • Manage small to medium-complexity projects and implementations, coordinating with relevant teams to ensure successful completion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • 1-3 years of help desk experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel is required, including but not limited to complex formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization tools.
  • Experience managing small to medium-complexity IT projects and implementations.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  • Experience with various operating systems and platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to be in the office Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm, with possible on-call over weekends.
  • Must be able to lift to 50lbs
