Team Description:

The Garage is an Innovation Hub within the Capital One Financial Services division with a vision to inspire innovation and transform customer experiences. One of our main focuses is delivering iconic products built using a wide range of cutting edge technologies, AI/ML, and delivering scalable technology solutions. As a Data Scientist in the Garage, you’ll be part of a team that’s leading the next wave of disruption at a whole new scale, using the latest in computing and machine learning technologies and operating across large number of customer records to harness the power of AI in unlocking the big opportunities to improve customer experience.

Role Description

In this role, you will:

• Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love
• Leverage a broad stack of technologies —Python, Huggingface, VectorDB, Pytorch, ElasticSearch and more — to reveal the insights hidden within huge volumes of numeric and textual data
• Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation
• Flex your interpersonal skills to translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree plus 7 years of experience in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master’s Degree plus 5 years of experience in data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining PhD plus 2 years of experience in data analytics, with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date
• At least 3 years’ experience in open source programming languages for large scale data analysis
• At least 3 years’ experience with machine learning
• At least 3 years’ experience with relational databases

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in “STEM” field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) plus 3 years of experience in data analytics
• At least 5 years’ experience with designing and optimizing large scale machine learning models, implementing large and complex data pipelines and deploying models into production
• At least 5 years' experience utilizing cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• At least 5 years' experience in a broad stack of technologies (Python, Pytorch, Huggingface, VetorDB, ElasticSearch)
• Experience in modern model algorithms and architectures (BERT, GPT, Distributed Computing, Deployment of Large Language Models on GPU instances)
