Summary

The City of Charleston is looking for a college intern to work as College Youth Employee - Youth Volunteer Corps through the Mayor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families! In this role, you will support service-learning programs.

Examples of Duties

• Assist in conducting service-learning activities for youth ages 11-18 at the Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) of Charleston Summer of Service ( SOS)
• Support the Program Director with a variety of service-learning lessons and volunteer events. 
• Help facilitate and lead team building activities and energizing games while fostering an inclusive environment for all youth. 
• Assist in implementation of program curriculum and lead small and large group activities. 
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Current college student pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree
• Available to work 20 hours per week for 8 weeks ( June - August)
• Able to manage behavior, problem solve, and communicate effectively

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with children and youth empowerment
• CPR and First Aid certification
